⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty ?God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

¹ In [the] beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² *He* was in the beginning with God. ³ All things received being through him, and without him not one [thing] received being which has received being. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men. ⁵ And the light appears in darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not. ⁶ There was a man sent from God, his name John. ⁷ He came for witness, that he might witness concerning the light, that all might believe through him. ⁸ *He* was not the light, but that he might witness concerning the light. ⁹ The true light was that which, coming into the world, lightens every man. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world had [its] being through him, and the world knew him not. ¹¹ He came to his own, and his own received him not; ¹² but as many as received him, to them gave he [the] right to be children of God, to those that believe on his name; ¹³ who have been born, not of blood, nor of flesh`s will, nor of man`s will, but of God. ¹⁴ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an only-begotten with a father), full of grace and truth; ¹⁵ (John bears witness of him, and he has cried, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that comes after me is preferred before me, for he was before me;) ¹⁶ for of his fulness we all have received, and grace upon grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth subsists through Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No one has seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, *he* hath declared [him]. ¹⁹ And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites that they might ask him, Thou, who art thou? ²⁰ And he acknowledged and denied not, and acknowledged, I am not the Christ. ²¹ And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he says, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No. ²² They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? ²³ He said, I [am] [the] voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the path of [the] Lord, as said Esaias the prophet. ²⁴ And they were sent from among the Pharisees. ²⁵ And they asked him and said to him, Why baptisest thou then, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet? ²⁶ John answered them saying, I baptise with water. In the midst of you stands, whom ye do not know, ²⁷ he who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to unloose. ²⁸ These things took place in Bethany, across the Jordan, where John was baptising. ²⁹ On the morrow he sees Jesus coming to him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. ³⁰ He it is of whom I said, A man comes after me who takes a place before me, because he *was* before me; ³¹ and I knew him not; but that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore have I come baptising with water. ³² And John bore witness, saying, I beheld the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him. ³³ And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptise with water, *he* said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is who baptises with [the] Holy Spirit. ³⁴ And I have seen and borne witness that this is the Son of God. ³⁵ Again, on the morrow, there stood John and two of his disciples. ³⁶ And, looking at Jesus as he walked, he says, Behold the Lamb of God. ³⁷ And the two disciples heard him speaking, and followed Jesus. ³⁸ But Jesus having turned, and seeing them following, says to them, What seek ye? And *they* said to him, Rabbi (which, being interpreted, signifies Teacher), where abidest thou? ³⁹ He says to them, Come and see. They went therefore, and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour. ⁴⁰ Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard [this] from John and followed him. ⁴¹ He first finds his own brother Simon, and says to him, We have found the Messias (which being interpreted is Christ). ⁴² And he led him to Jesus. Jesus looking at him said, Thou art Simon, the son of Jonas; thou shalt be called Cephas (which interpreted is stone). ⁴³ On the morrow he would go forth into Galilee, and Jesus finds Philip, and says to him, Follow me. ⁴⁴ And Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip finds Nathanael, and says to him, We have found him of whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is from Nazareth. ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip says to him, Come and see. ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold [one] truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile. ⁴⁸ Nathanael says to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee. ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel. ⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these. ⁵¹ And he says to him, Verily, verily, I say to you, Henceforth ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of man.

¹ And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, he withdrew from Galilee, and came to the coasts of Judaea beyond the Jordan; ² and great crowds followed him, and he healed them there. ³ And the Pharisees came to him tempting him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? ⁴ But he answering said [to them], Have ye not read that he who made [them], from the beginning made them male and female, ⁵ and said, On account of this a man shall leave father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh? ⁶ so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. ⁷ They say to him, Why then did Moses command to give a letter of divorce and to send [her] away? ⁸ He says to them, Moses, in view of your hardheartedness, allowed you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not thus. ⁹ But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, not for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries one put away commits adultery. ¹⁰ His disciples say to him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. ¹¹ And he said to them, All cannot receive this word, but those to whom it has been given; ¹² for there are eunuchs which have been born thus from [their] mother`s womb; and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs of men; and there are eunuchs who have made eunuchs of themselves for the sake of the kingdom of the heavens. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it]. <sup>13</sup> Then there were brought to him little children that he might lay his hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them. <sup>14</sup> But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of the heavens is of such: <sup>15</sup> and having laid his hands upon them, he departed thence. <sup>16</sup> And lo, one coming up said to him, Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have life eternal? <sup>17</sup> And he said to him, What askest thou me concerning goodness? one is good. But if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments. <sup>18</sup> He says to him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, <sup>19</sup> Honour thy father and thy mother, and Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. <sup>20</sup> The young man says to him, All these have I kept; what lack I yet? <sup>21</sup> Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to [the] poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. <sup>22</sup> But the young man, having heard the word, went away grieved, for he had large possessions. <sup>23</sup> And Jesus said to his disciples, Verily I say unto you, A rich man shall with difficulty enter into the kingdom of the heavens; <sup>24</sup> and again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to enter a needle`s eye than a rich man into the kingdom of God. ²⁵ And when the disciples heard [it] they were exceedingly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved? ²⁶ But Jesus, looking on [them], said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. ²⁷ Then Peter answering said to him, Behold, *we* have left all things and have followed thee; what then shall happen to us? ²⁸ And Jesus said to them, Verily I say unto you, That *ye* who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit down upon his throne of glory, *ye* also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And every one who has left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name`s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit life eternal. ³⁰ But many first shall be last, and last first.

¹ Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of the Christ, let us go on [to what belongs] to full growth, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and faith in God, ² of [the] doctrine of washings, and of imposition of hands, and of resurrection of [the] dead, and of eternal judgment; ³ and this will we do if God permit. ⁴ For it is impossible to renew again to repentance those once enlightened, and who have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of [the] Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good word of God, and [the] works of power of [the] age to come, ⁶ and have fallen away, crucifying for themselves [as they do] the Son of God, and making a show of [him]. ⁷ For ground which drinks the rain which comes often upon it, and produces useful herbs for those for whose sakes also it is tilled, partakes of blessing from God; ⁸ but bringing forth thorns and briars, it is found worthless and nigh to a curse, whose end [is] to be burned. ⁹ But we are persuaded concerning you, beloved, better things, and connected with salvation, even if we speak thus. ¹⁰ For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye have shewn to his name, having ministered to the saints, and [still] ministering. ¹¹ But we desire earnestly that each one of you shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end; ¹² that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience have been inheritors of the promises. ¹³ For God, having promised to Abraham, since he had no greater to swear by, swore by himself, ¹⁴ saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee; ¹⁵ and thus, having had long patience, he got the promise. ¹⁶ For men indeed swear by a greater, and with them the oath is a term to all dispute, as making matters sure. ¹⁷ Wherein God, willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his purpose, intervened by an oath, ¹⁸ that by two unchangeable things, in which [it was] impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us, ¹⁹ which we have as anchor of the soul, both secure and firm, and entering into that within the veil, ²⁰ where Jesus is entered as forerunner for us, become for ever a high priest according to the order of Melchisedec.

¹ And the heavens and the earth and all their host were finished. ² And God had finished on the seventh day his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it, because that on it he rested from all his work which God had created in making it. ⁴ These are the histories of the heavens and the earth, when they were created, in the day that Jehovah Elohim made earth and heavens, ⁵ and every shrub of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew; for Jehovah Elohim had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground. ⁶ But a mist went up from the earth, and moistened the whole surface of the ground. ⁷ And Jehovah Elohim formed Man, dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Man became a living soul. ⁸ And Jehovah Elohim planted a garden in Eden eastward, and there put Man whom he had formed. ⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; and the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. ¹⁰ And a river went out of Eden, to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four main streams. ¹¹ The name of the one is Pison: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Havilah, where the gold is. ¹² And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and the onyx stone are there. ¹³ And the name of the second river is Gihon: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Cush. ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which flows forward toward Asshur. And the fourth river, that is Euphrates. ¹⁵ And Jehovah Elohim took Man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to till it and to guard it. ¹⁶ And Jehovah Elohim commanded Man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou shalt freely eat; ¹⁷ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt certainly die. ¹⁸ And Jehovah Elohim said, It is not good that Man should be alone; I will make him a helpmate, his like. ¹⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim had formed every animal of the field and all fowl of the heavens, and brought [them] to Man, to see what he would call them; and whatever Man called each living soul, that was its name. ²⁰ And Man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but as for Adam, he found no helpmate, his like. ²¹ And Jehovah Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon Man; and he slept. And he took one of his ribs and closed up flesh in its stead. ²² And Jehovah Elohim built the rib that he had taken from Man into a woman; and brought her to Man. ²³ And Man said, This time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: this shall be called Woman, because this was taken out of a man. ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. ²⁵ And they were both naked, Man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

³ By faith we apprehend that the worlds were framed by [the] word of God, so that that which is seen should not take its origin from things which appear.

³ And God said, Let there be light. And there was light.

⁵ Thus saith ?God, Jehovah, he that created the heavens and stretched them out, he that spread forth the earth and its productions, he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

⁸ But let not this one thing be hidden from you, beloved, that one day with [the] Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

And God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply on the earth. ²³ And there was evening, and there was morning -- a fifth day. ²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth living souls after their kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth, after their kind. And it was so. ²⁵ And God made the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing of the ground after its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²⁶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over the whole earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth on the earth. ²⁷ And God created Man in his image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ²⁸ And God blessed them; and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over every animal that moveth on the earth. ²⁹ And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb producing seed that is on the whole earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree producing seed: it shall be food for you; ³⁰ and to every animal of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth on the earth, in which is a living soul, every green herb for food. And it was so. ³¹ And God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning -- the sixth day.
