²³ But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.

¹ I am the true vine: and my Father is the husbandman. ² Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit. ³ Now you are clean, by reason of the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in me: and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me. ⁵ I am the vine: you the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing. ⁶ If any one abide not in me, he shall be cast forth as a branch and shall wither: and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire: and he burneth. ⁷ If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you will: and it shall be done unto you. ⁸ In this is my Father glorified: that you bring forth very much fruit and become my disciples. ⁹ As the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you. Abide in my love. ¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love: as I also have kept my Father's commandments and do abide in his love. ¹¹ These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled. ¹² This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you. ¹⁵ I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends. because all things, whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you. ¹⁶ You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. ¹⁷ These things I command you, that you love one another. ¹⁸ If the world hate you, know ye that it hath hated me before you. ¹⁹ If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept my word, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him that sent me. ²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin: but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. ²⁵ But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: they hated me without cause. ²⁶ But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me. ²⁷ And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.

¹ The vision of Isaias the Son of Amos, which he saw concerning Juda and Jerusalem in the days of Ozias, Joathan, Achaz, and Ezechias, kings of Juda. ² Hear, O ye heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the Lord hath spoken. I have brought up children, and exalted them: but they have despised me. ³ The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel hath not known me, and my people hath not understood. ⁴ Woe to the sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a wicked seed, ungracious children: they have forsaken the Lord, they have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel, they are gone away backwards. ⁵ For what shall I strike you any more, you that increase transgression? the whole head is sick, and the whole heart is sad. ⁶ From the sole of the foot unto the top of the head, there is no soundness therein: wounds and bruises and swelling sores: they are not bound up, nor dressed, nor fomented with oil. ⁷ Your land is desolate, your cities are burnt with fire: your country strangers devour before your face, and it shall be desolate as when wasted by enemies. ⁸ And the daughter of Sion shall be left as a covert in a vineyard, and as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, and as a city that is laid waste. ⁹ Except the Lord of hosts had left us seed, we had been as Sodom, and we should have been like to Gomorrha. ¹⁰ Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom, give ear to the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrha. ¹¹ To what purpose do you offer me the multitude of your victims, saith the Lord? I am full, I desire not holocausts of rams, and fat of fatlings, and blood of calves, and lambs, and buck goats. ¹² When you came to appear before me, who required these things at your hands, that you should walk in my courts? ¹³ Offer sacrifice no more in vain: incense is an abomination to me. The new moons, and the sabbaths and other festivals I will not abide, your assemblies are wicked. ¹⁴ My soul hateth your new moons, and your solemnities: they are become troublesome to me, I am weary of bearing them. ¹⁵ And when you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away my eyes from you: and when you multiply prayer, I will not hear: for your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash yourselves, be clean, take away the evil of your devices from my eyes, cease to do perversely, ¹⁷ Learn to do well: seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge for the fatherless, defend the widow. ¹⁸ And then come, and accuse me, saith the Lord: if your sins be as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow: and if they be red as crimson, they shall be white as wool. ¹⁹ If you be willing, and will hearken to me, you shall eat the good things of the land. ²⁰ But if you will not, and will provoke me to wrath: the sword shall devour you because the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. ²¹ How is the faithful city, that was full of judgment, become a harlot? justice dwelt in it, but now murderers. ²² Thy silver is turned into dross: thy wine is mingled with water. ²³ Thy princes are faithless, companions of thieves: they all love bribes, they run after rewards. They judge not for the fatherless: and the widow's cause cometh not in to them. ²⁴ Therefore saith the Lord the God of hosts, the mighty one of Israel: Ah! I will comfort myself over my adversaries: and I will be revenged of my enemies. ²⁵ And I will turn my hand to thee, and I will clean purge away thy dross, and I will take away all thy tin. ²⁶ And I will restore thy judges as they were before, and thy counsellors as of old. After this thou shalt be called the city of the just, a faithful city. ²⁷ Sion shall be redeemed in judgment, and they shall bring her back in justice. ²⁸ And he shall destroy the wicked, and the sinners together: and they that have forsaken the Lord, shall be consumed. ²⁹ For they shall be confounded for the idols, to which they have sacrificed: and you shall be ashamed of the gardens which you have chosen. ³⁰ When you shall be as an oak with the leaves falling off, and as a garden without water. ³¹ And your strength shall be as the ashes of tow, and your work as a spark: and both shall burn together, and there shall be none to quench it.

⁸ Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.

²³ Because it is like the sin of witchcraft, to rebel: and like the crime of idolatry, to refuse to obey. Forasmuch, therefore, as thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord hath also rejected thee from being king.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest: which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury, ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects, ²¹ Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.

³⁰ I cannot of myself do any thing. As I hear, so I judge. And my judgment is just: because I seek not my own will. but the will of him that sent me.

⁵ But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest up to thyself wrath, against the day of wrath and revelation of the just judgment of God:

^{11 (81:12)} But my people heard not my voice: and Israel hearkened not to me. ^{12 (81:13)} So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions.

¹ The man that with a stiff neck despiseth him that reproveth him, shall suddenly be destroyed: and health shall not follow him.

³ Let nothing be done through contention: neither by vain glory. But in humility, let each esteem others better than themselves:
