²⁸ You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh, for the dead: neither shall you make in yourselves any figures or marks. I am the Lord.

²⁶ My son, give me thy heart: and let thy eyes keep my ways.

¹² Whose sons are as new plants in their youth: Their daughters decked out, adorned round about after the similitude of a temple:

¹¹ For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of affliction, to give you an end and patience.

²⁹ Let no evil speech proceed from your mouth: but that which is good, to the edification of faith: that it may administer grace to the hearers.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service. ² And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God.

¹³ Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is just. ² Honour thy father and thy mother, which is the first commandment with a promise: ³ That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest be long lived upon earth. ⁴ And you, fathers, provoke not your children to anger: but bring them up in the discipline and correction of the Lord.

²² But flee thou youthful desires, and pursue justice, faith, charity and peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹ Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the time of affliction come, and the years draw nigh of which thou shalt say: They please me not:

⁹ By what doth a young man correct his way? by observing thy words.

⁹ Rejoice therefore, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart be in that which is good in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thy eyes: and know that for all these God will bring thee into judgment.

⁴ And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: ⁵ Before I formed thee in the bowels of thy mother, I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and made thee a prophet unto the nations. ⁶ And I said: Ah, ah, ah, Lord God: behold, I cannot speak, for I am a child. ⁷ And the Lord said to me: Say not: I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee: and whatsoever I shall command thee, thou shalt speak. ⁸ Be not afraid at their presence: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

¹² Let no man despise thy youth: but be thou an example of the faithful, in word, in conversation, in charity, in faith, in chastity.
