⁷ Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

¹ ¶ And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, that their widows were neglected in the daily ministry. ² Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them and said, It is not right that we should leave the word of God and serve tables; ³ therefore, brethren, seek out among you seven men of whom you bear witness, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. ⁴ And we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. ⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch: ⁶ these they set before the apostles, and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. ⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly, and also a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. ⁸ ¶ And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles in the people. ⁹ Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians and Alexandrians and of those of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. ¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. ¹¹ Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God. ¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and came upon him and caught him and brought him to the council ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law, ¹⁴ for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place and shall change the traditions which Moses delivered us. ¹⁵ Then all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

¹⁰ The thief comes not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy the sheep; I am come that they might have life and that they might have it in abundance.

⁴² ¶ And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers.

¹ ¶ Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.

² It is expedient, therefore, that the bishop be blameless, the husband of only one wife, vigilant, temperate, of worldly affections mortified, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

¹³ ¶ And believing, the God of hope fills you with all joy and peace that ye may abound in hope by the virtue of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁴ ¶ And this is the confidence that we have in God, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:

¹ ¶ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his slaves things which are convenient to do quickly, and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his slave John, ² who bore witness of the word of God and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. ³ ¶ Blessed is he that reads and those that hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein, for the time is at hand. ⁴ John, to the seven congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} which are in Asia: Grace be unto you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne ⁵ and from Jesus, the Christ, who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins with his own blood ⁶ and has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. ⁷ Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him and those also who pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail over him. Even so, Amen. ⁸ I AM the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end, saith the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. ⁹ ¶ I John, your brother and participant in the tribulation and in the kingdom and in the patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. ¹⁰ I was in the Spirit in the day of the Lord and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet, ¹¹ that said, I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, and What thou seest, write in a book and send it unto the seven congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} which are in Asia: unto Ephesus and unto Smyrna and unto Pergamos and unto Thyatira and unto Sardis and unto Philadelphia and unto Laodicea. ¹² And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden lampstands ¹³ and in the midst of the seven lampstands one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girt about the breasts with a golden girdle. ¹⁴ His head and his hairs were white like white wool, as the snow, and his eyes were as a flame of fire ¹⁵ and his feet like unto brilliant metal as if they burned in a furnace and his voice as the sound of many waters. ¹⁶ And he had in his right hand seven stars, and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword, and his countenance was as the sun when it shines in its strength. ¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I AM the first and the last, ¹⁸ and he that lives and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of Hades and of death. ¹⁹ Write the things which thou hast seen and the things which are and the things which must be after these. ²⁰ The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}, and the seven lampstands which thou sawest are the seven congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}. ²¹ For the prophecy did not come in times past by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke being inspired by the Holy Spirit.

² If a person commits a sin, a trespass against the LORD, and denies unto his neighbour that which was delivered unto him to keep or left in his hand, or in a thing stolen, or has slandered his neighbour; ³ or has found that which was lost and then denies it and swears falsely, in any of all these in which a man can sin, ⁴ then it shall be that because he has sinned and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he stole, or for the damage of the slander, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found, ⁵ or all that about which he has sworn falsely, he shall even restore it in the principal and shall add the fifth part more to it, for the one to whom it belongs, and he shall pay in the day of his guiltiness. ⁶ And he shall bring for the expiation of his guilt unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flock, in thy estimation, for his guilt, unto the priest; ⁷ and the priest shall reconcile him before the LORD, and he shall have forgiveness for any of all of the things in which he is guilty.

¹⁰ And those that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those that seek thee.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹⁸ But now God has set the members each one of them in the body, as it has pleased him.

² but is under the hand of tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

¹⁰ Let each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God.

³ ¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

¹⁴ ¶ For it is like a man travelling into a far country, who called his own slaves and delivered unto them his goods. ¹⁵ And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each one according to his faculty, and straightway took his journey. ¹⁶ And after he was gone, he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same and made another five talents. ¹⁷ And likewise he that had received two, he also gained another two. ¹⁸ But he that had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money. ¹⁹ And after a long time the lord of those slaves came and reckoned accounts with them. ²⁰ And so he that had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me five talents; behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. ²¹ His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²² He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. ²³ His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²⁴ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown and gathering where thou hast not scattered; ²⁵ therefore, I was afraid and went and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast what is thine. ²⁶ His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful slave, thou knewest that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered; ²⁷ therefore, it was expedient for thee to have put my money to the bankers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with interest. ²⁸ Take, therefore, the talent from him and give it unto him who has ten talents.
