¹ And the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. ² And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it: because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made. ⁴ These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made earth and heaven. ⁵ And no plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground; ⁶ but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. ⁷ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. ⁸ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. ⁹ And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. ¹⁰ And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four heads. ¹¹ The name of the first is Pishon: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; ¹² and the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. ¹³ And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Cush. ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth in front of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. ¹⁵ And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. ¹⁶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: ¹⁷ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. ¹⁸ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. ¹⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof. ²⁰ And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for man there was not found an help meet for him. ²¹ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof: ²² and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. ²³ And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. ²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

²⁶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. ²⁷ And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ²⁸ And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. ⁹ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. ¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. ¹¹ And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, [and] fruit tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so. ¹² And the earth brought forth grass, herb yielding seed after its kind, and tree bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after its kind: and God saw that it was good. ¹³ And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. ¹⁴ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. ¹⁶ And God made the two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also. ¹⁷ And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. ¹⁹ And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. ²⁰ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and let fowl fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. ²¹ And God created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kinds, and every winged fowl after its kind: and God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. ²³ And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. ²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind: and it was so. ²⁵ And God made the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good. ²⁶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. ²⁷ And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ²⁸ And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. ²⁹ And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat: ³⁰ and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, [I have given] every green herb for meat: and it was so. ³¹ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

¹ A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

¹⁴ I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: wonderful are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

⁹ but as it is written, Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not, And [which] entered not into the heart of man, Whatsoever things God prepared for them that love him.

¹ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

² He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. ³ He restoreth my soul: he guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

⁷ But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: ⁸ Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. ⁹ Who knoweth not in all these, that the hand of LORD hath wrought this?

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.

¹⁷ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

² Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined forth.

¹¹ He hath made every thing beautiful in its time: also he hath set the world in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.

²⁰ For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, [even] his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse:

⁵ He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD.

¹ Bless the LORD O my soul, O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. ² Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment; who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: ³ Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters; who maketh the clouds his chariot; who walketh upon the wings of the wind: ⁴ Who maketh winds his messengers; his ministers a flaming fire: ⁵ Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved for ever. ⁶ Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; ⁸ They went up by the mountains, they went down by the valleys, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them. ⁹ Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth. ¹⁰ He sendeth forth springs into the valleys; they run among the mountains: ¹¹ They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst. ¹² By them the fowl of the heaven have their habitation, they sing among the branches. ¹³ He watereth the mountains from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. ¹⁴ He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; that he may bring forth food out of the earth: ¹⁵ And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, [and] oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengtheneth man’s heart. ¹⁶ The trees of the LORD are satisfied; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; ¹⁷ Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. ¹⁸ The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the conies. ¹⁹ He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. ²⁰ Thou makest darkness, and it is night; Wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. ²² The sun ariseth, they get them away, and lay them down in their dens. ²³ Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. ²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. ²⁵ Yonder is the sea, great and wide, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts. ²⁶ There go the ships; there is leviathan, whom thou hast formed to take his pastime therein. ²⁷ These wait all upon thee, that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. ²⁸ That thou givest unto them they gather; thou openest thine hand, they are satisfied with good. ²⁹ Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath they die, and return to their dust. ³⁰ Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created; and thou renewest the face of the ground. ³¹ Let the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in his works: ³² Who looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the mountains, and they smoke. ³³ I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have any being. ³⁴ Let my meditation be sweet unto him: I will rejoice in the LORD. ³⁵ Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.

³¹ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

³ All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.

¹ For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

¹⁶ for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him; ¹⁷ and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.
