²⁵ Do not focus on her beauty in your mind, nor allow her to take you prisoner with her flirting eyes,

¹ The Future Redemption of Israel But now this is what the LORD says, the one who created you, Jacob, the one who formed you, Israel: “Do not be afraid, because I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called you by name; you are mine.

²⁸ But I say to you, anyone who stares at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

³¹ but those who keep waiting for the LORD will renew their strength. Then they’ll soar on wings like eagles; they’ll run and not grow weary; they’ll walk and not grow tired.”

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things. ⁹ Likewise, keep practicing these things: what you have learned, received, heard, and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.

²⁵ Can any of you add an hour to the length of your life by worrying? ²⁶ So if you can’t do a small thing like that, why worry about other things?

³⁰ I can do nothing on my own accord. I judge according to what I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.”

³⁰ Charm is deceitful and beauty fades; but a woman who fears the LORD will be praised.

⁴ Swear to me, young women of Jerusalem, that you won’t awaken or arouse love before its proper time!

⁹ However, if they cannot control themselves, they should get married, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

⁴ Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited, ⁵ and she is never rude; she never thinks just of herself or ever gets annoyed. She never is resentful; ⁶ is never glad with sin; she’s always glad to side with truth, and pleased that truth will win. ⁷ She bears up under everything; believes the best in all; there is no limit to her hope, and never will she fall.

²² Flee from youthful passions. Instead, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.
