¹⁶ Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.

³ But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

²² Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

⁸ For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.

What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. ²³ For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: ²⁴ And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, after he had eaten, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do you, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. ²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's death till he comes. ²⁷ Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. ²⁹ For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. ³⁰ For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. ³¹ For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. ³² But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. ³³ Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait one for another. ³⁴ And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that you come not together unto judgment. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

¹⁵ Yet she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with propriety.

³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; ⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sensible, to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

³⁴ Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be submissive, as also says the law.

¹² But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have authority over the man, but to be in silence.
