⁵ For the living know that they shall die; but the dead do not know anything, nor do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten. ⁶ Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; nor do they any longer have a part forever in all that is done under the sun.

⁴¹ Then He also shall say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels.

⁹ And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they held. ¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, Until when, Master, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? ¹¹ And white robes were given to each one of them. And it was said to them that they should rest yet for a little time, until both their fellow servants and their brothers (those about to be killed as they were) should have their number made complete.

⁶ Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over these, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him a thousand years.

¹ A Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to declare to His servants things which must shortly come to pass. And He signified it by sending His angel to His servant John, ² who bore record of the Word of God and of the testimony of Jesus Christ and of all the things that he saw. ³ Blessed is the one who reads and hears the Words of this prophecy, and the ones keeping the things written in it, for the time is near. ⁴ John to the seven churches which are in Asia. Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is coming; and from the seven spirits which are before His throne; ⁵ even from Jesus Christ the faithful Witness, the First-born from the dead and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, ⁶ and made us kings and priests to God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. ⁷ Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, and those who pierced Him will see Him, and all the kindreds of the earth will wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. ⁸ I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. ⁹ I, John, who also am your brother and companion in the affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the island that is called Patmos, for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. ¹⁰ I came to be in the Spirit in the Lord's day and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, ¹¹ saying, I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last. Also, What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea. ¹² And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. ¹³ And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands. And in the midst of the seven lampstands I saw One like the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the feet, and tied around the breast with a golden band. ¹⁴ His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And His eyes were like a flame of fire. ¹⁵ And His feet were like burnished brass having been fired in a furnace. And His voice was like the sound of many waters. ¹⁶ And He had seven stars in His right hand, and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword. And His face was like the sun shining in its strength. ¹⁷ And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying to me, Do not fear, I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ and the Living One, and I became dead, and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen. And I have the keys of hell and of death. ¹⁹ Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be after this, ²⁰ the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand and the seven golden lampstands. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

¹⁹ There was a certain rich man who was customarily clothed in purple and fine linen and making merry in luxury every day. ²⁰ And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores ²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. But even the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² And it happened that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich one also died and was buried. ²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted and you are tormented. ²⁶ And besides all this, there is a great chasm fixed between you and us; so that they desiring to pass from here to you cannot, nor can they pass over to us from there. ²⁷ And he said, I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, ²⁸ for I have five brothers, so that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment. ²⁹ Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the Prophets, let them hear them. ³⁰ And he said, No, father Abraham, but if one should go to them from the dead, they would repent. ³¹ And he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded, even though one rose from the dead.

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

² In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

⁴³ And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, Today you shall be with Me in Paradise.

⁸ But the fearful, and the unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, will have their part in the Lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
