⁴ And it happened, the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ⁵ Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I consecrated you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations. ⁶ Then I said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Behold, I do not know to speak; for I am a boy. ⁷ But Jehovah said to me, Do not say, I am a boy; for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. ⁸ Do not be afraid of their faces; for I am with you to deliver you, says Jehovah. ⁹ And Jehovah put forth His hand, and touched my mouth. And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I have put My Words in your mouth. ¹⁰ Behold! I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

¹ And Jonah prayed to Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly, ² and he said, I cried to Jehovah from my distress. And He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried for help, and You heard my voice. ³ For You cast me into the depths of the seas, and the current surrounded me. All Your breakers and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, I am cast off from Your eyes, yet I will look again toward Your holy temple. ⁵ Waters encompassed me, even to the soul; the depth closed around me; the seaweed was bound to my head. ⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was around me forever; yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God. ⁷ When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; and my prayer came in to You, into Your holy temple. ⁸ They who take heed to lying vanities forsake their kindness; ⁹ but I will sacrifice to You with the voice of thanksgiving; I will fulfill that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Jehovah! ¹⁰ And Jehovah spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out on the dry land.

¹³ Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not; nor do they understand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which said, "By hearing you shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see and shall not perceive; ¹⁵ for this people's heart has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

⁴² Jesus said to them, Did you never read in the Scriptures, "The stone which the builders rejected, this One has become the head of the corner; this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?"

⁷ And He said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in His own authority. ⁸ But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth. ⁹ And saying these things, as they watched, He was taken up. And a cloud received Him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they were looking intently into the heaven, He having gone, even behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them, ¹¹ who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into the heaven? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into Heaven, will come in the way you have seen Him going into Heaven.

⁷ He shall not be afraid of bad news; his heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah.

⁸ "This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

⁷ because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can it be.

⁹ Even a man, my friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

³³ I have spoken these things to you so that you might have peace in Me. In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.

¹ But now so says Jehovah who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel; Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; nor shall the flame kindle on you. ³ For I am Jehovah your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for you. ⁴ Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you; therefore I will give men for you, and people for your life.
