²¹ And Isaac prayed to Jehovah for his wife, because she was barren. And Jehovah heard him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

¹⁶ To the woman He said, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception. In pain you shall bear sons, and your desire shall be toward your husband, and he shall rule over you.

¹ And Jehovah visited Sarah as He had said. And Jehovah did to Sarah as He had spoken. ² For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

¹ And God blessed Noah and his sons. And He said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.

³ And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to the woman and said to her, Behold now, you are barren and do not bear. But you shall conceive and bear a son.

²¹ And Jehovah visited Hannah so that she conceived, and she bore three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before Jehovah.

²⁵ Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she who bore you shall rejoice.

²⁸ Her sons rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.

¹⁴ And you shall have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth.

¹¹ And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Behold, you are with child, and shall bear a son. And you shall call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah has heard your affliction.

⁹ He causes the barren to dwell in the house as a joyful mother of sons. Praise Jehovah!

²⁹ For behold, the days are coming in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts which did not suckle.

¹⁵ Did not He who made me in the womb make him? And did not One shape us in the womb?

¹³ For You have possessed my inward parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her suckling child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.

⁵ As you do not know what is the way of the spirit, as how the bones grow in the pregnant woman's womb; even so you do not know the works of God who makes all.

⁴⁴ For lo, as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. ⁴⁵ And blessed is she who believes, for there shall be a perfecting of those things which were told her from the Lord.

⁵ Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I consecrated you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

²¹ The woman has grief when she bears, because her hour has come. But when she brings forth the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, because of the joy that a man is born into the world.

³ Lo, children are the inheritance of Jehovah; the fruit of the womb is a reward.

⁴ And it happened, the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ⁵ Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I consecrated you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
