¹⁶ To the woman He said, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception. In pain you shall bear sons, and your desire shall be toward your husband, and he shall rule over you.

And from there it was divided and became four heads. ¹¹ The name of the first is Pishon; that is it which surrounds all the land of Havilah, where there is gold. ¹² And the gold of that land is good. There is bdellium and the onyx stone. ¹³ And the name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one that surrounds the whole land of Cush. ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Tigris; it is that which goes toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. ¹⁵ And Jehovah God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. ¹⁶ And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree in the garden, ¹⁷ but you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. ¹⁸ And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. ¹⁹ And out of the ground Jehovah God formed every animal of the field and every fowl of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. ²⁰ And Adam gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every animal of the field. But there was not found a suitable helper for Adam. ²¹ And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh underneath. ²² And Jehovah God made the rib (which He had taken from the man) into a woman. And He brought her to the man. ²³ And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man. ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh. ²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife; and they were not ashamed.

³ But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

²² Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

⁸ For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.

But the woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. ⁹ Nor was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man. ¹⁰ For this reason the woman ought to have authority on her head because of the angels. ¹¹ But neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord. ¹² For as the woman is of the man, even so the man is also through the woman; but all things of God. ¹³ Judge among yourselves: is it right that a woman pray to God unveiled? ¹⁴ Does not even nature itself teach you that if man has long hair, it is a shame to him? ¹⁵ But if a woman should have long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her in place of a veil. ¹⁶ But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor the churches of God. ¹⁷ But in enjoining this, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better, but for the worse. ¹⁸ For first of all, when you come together in the church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and I partly believe it. ¹⁹ For there must also be heresies among you, that the approved ones may be revealed among you. ²⁰ Therefore when you come together into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. ²¹ For in eating each one takes his own supper first; and one is hungry, and another drunken. ²² For do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God, and shame those who do not have? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? I do not praise you! ²³ For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was betrayed took bread; ²⁴ And giving thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body, which is broken for you; this do in remembrance of Me." ²⁵ In the same way He took the cup also, after supping, saying, "This cup is the New Covenant in My blood; as often as you drink it, do this in remembrance of Me." ²⁶ For "as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you show" the Lord's death until He shall come. ²⁷ So that whoever shall eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, he will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup. ²⁹ For he who eats and drinks unworthily eats and drinks condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. ³⁰ For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and many sleep. ³¹ For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. ³² But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. ³³ So that, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. ³⁴ But if anyone hungers, let him eat at home, so that you do not come together to condemnation. And the rest I will set in order when I come.

² Then it behooves the overseer to be without reproach, husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, well-ordered, hospitable, apt at teaching,

¹⁵ But she will be kept safe through childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with sensibleness.

³ Let the aged women likewise be in reverent behavior, not slanderers, not enslaved by much wine, teachers of good; ⁴ that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be blasphemed.

³⁴ Let your women be silent in the churches; for it is not permitted to them to speak, but to be in subjection, as the Law also says.

¹² But I do not allow a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence.
