⁵ For the LORD is gracious, his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth from generation to generation.

²¹ Examine all things, and keep that which is good.

¹⁷ And when he was come out into the way, there came one running and kneeled to him, and asked him, "Good Master, what shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life?" ¹⁸ Jesus said to him, "Why callest thou me good? There is no man good but one, which is God. ¹⁹ Thou knowest the commandments: break not matrimony, kill not, steal not, bear no false witness, defraud no man, honour thy father and thy mother." ²⁰ He answered and said to him, "Master, all these I have observed from my youth." ²¹ Jesus beheld him, and had a favour to him, and said unto him, "One thing is lacking unto thee. Go, and sell all that thou hast, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me, and take up thy cross on thee." ²² But he was discomforted with that saying, and went away mourning, for he had great possessions.

¹ O Blessed is the man that hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, and hath not sat in the seat of the scornful. ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law will he exercise himself, day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the waterside, that will bring forth his fruit in due season. His leaf, also, shall not wither; and, look, whatsoever he doeth, it shall prosper. ⁴ As for the ungodly, it is not so with them: but they are like the chaff, which the wind scattereth away from the face of the earth. ⁵ Therefore the ungodly shall not be able to stand in the judgment, neither the sinners in the congregation of the righteous. ⁶ For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

²⁰ Woe be unto them that call evil good, and good evil: which make darkness light, and light darkness, that make sour sweet, and sweet sour.

²¹ Be not overcome of evil: But overcome evil with goodness.
