Bible verses about "sheperd" | MSTC

1 Peter 5:2-4

2 see that ye feed Christ's flock, which is among you, taking the oversight of them: not as though ye were compelled thereto, but willingly; Not for the desire of filthy lucre, but of a good mind. 3 Not as though ye were lords over the parishes: but that ye be an example to the flock. 4 And when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive an incorruptible crown of glory.

1 Peter 3:15

15 but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, and that with meekness and fear:

Proverbs 1:1-33

1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David king of Israel: 2 To learn wisdom, instruction, understanding, prudence, 3 righteousness, judgment and equity. 4 That the very babes might have wit, and that young men might have knowledge and understanding. 5 By hearing, the wise man shall come by more wisdom: 6 and he that is endued with understanding shall obtain wit to perceive a parable, and the interpretation thereof; the words of the wise, and the dark speeches of the same. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. But fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear thy father's doctrine, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9 for that shall bring grace unto thy head, and shall be a chain about thy neck. 10 My son, consent not unto sinners, 11 if they entice thee, and say, "Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, and lurk privily for the innocent without a cause: 12 Let us swallow them up like the hell, let us devour them quick and whole, as those that go down into the pit. 13 So shall we find all manner of costly riches, and fill our houses with spoils. 14 Cast in thy lot among us, we shall have all one purse." 15 My son, walk not thou with them, refrain thy foot from their ways. 16 For their feet run to evil, and are hasty to shed blood. 17 But in vain is the net laid forth before the bird's eyes. 18 Yea, they themselves lay wait one for another's blood, and one of them would slay another. 19 These are the ways of all such as be covetous, that one would ravish another's life. 20 Wisdom crieth without and putteth forth her voice in the streets. 21 She calleth before the congregation in the open gates, and showeth her words through the city, saying, 22 "O ye children, how long will ye love childishness? How long will the scorners delight in scorning, and the unwise be enemies unto knowledge? 23 O turn you unto my correction: lo, I will express my mind unto you, and make you understand my words. 24 Seeing then that I have called, and ye refused it: I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded it, 25 but all my counsels have ye despised and set my corrections to naught. 26 Therefore shall I also laugh in your destruction, and mock you, when the thing that ye fear cometh upon you: 27 even when the thing that ye be afraid of, falleth in suddenly like a storm, and your misery like a tempest: yea, when trouble and heaviness cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not hear: they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me. 29 And that because they hated knowledge, and received not the fear of the LORD, 30 but abhorred my counsel, and despised my correction. 31 Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and be filled with their own counsels: 32 for the turning away of the unwise shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall be their own destruction. 33 But who so hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and have enough without any fear of evil."

John 10:1-42

1 Verily, verily I say unto you, He that entereth not in by the door, into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way: the same is a thief and a robber. 2 He that goeth in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth the door, and the sheep hear his voice; And he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he hath sent forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: For they know his voice. 5 A stranger they will not follow, but will fly from him. For they know not the voice of strangers." 6 This similitude spake Jesus unto them. But they understood not, what things they were, which he spake unto them. 7 Then said Jesus unto them again, "Verily, verily I say unto you: that I am the door of the sheep. 8 All, even as many as came before me, are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me, if any man enter in, he shall be safe, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not but for to steal and kill, and destroy. I am come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12 An hired servant which is not the shepherd, neither the sheep are his own, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flyeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hired servant flyeth because he is a hired servant, and careth not for the sheep. 14 I am that good shepherd, and know mine, and am known of mine. 15 As my father knoweth me: even so know I my father. And I give my life for the sheep, 16 and other sheep I have, which are not of this fold. Them also must I bring, that they may hear my voice. And that there may be one flock, and one shepherd. 17 Therefore doth my father love me: because I put my life from me, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me: but I put it away of myself. I have power to put it from me, and power I have to take it again. This commandment have I received of my father." 19 And there was a dissension among the Jews for these sayings, 20 and many of them said, "He hath the devil, and is mad: why hear ye him?" 21 Others said, "These are not the words of him that hath the devil: Can the devil open the eyes of the blind?" 22 And it was at Jerusalem, the feast of the dedication, and it was the winter: 23 And Jesus walked in Solomon's porch. 24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, "How long dost thou make us doubt? If thou be Christ, tell us plainly." 25 Jesus answered them, "I told you and ye believe not: The works that I do in my father's name, they bear witness of me: 26 but ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep. As I said unto you, 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 And I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My father which gave them me, is greater than all men; and no man is able to take them out of my father's hand. 30 And I and my father are one." 31 Then the Jews again took up stones, to stone him withal. 32 Jesus answered them, "Many good works have I showed you from my father: for which of them will ye stone me?" 33 The Jews answered him saying, "For thy good works' sake we stone thee not: but for thy blasphemy, and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God." 34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I have say ye are gods?' 35 If he called them gods unto whom the word of God was spoken — and the scripture cannot be broken - 36 say ye then to him, whom the father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, 'Thou blasphemest, because I said I am the son of God?' 37 If I do not the works of my father, believe me not. 38 But if I do: though ye believe not me, yet believe the works, that ye may know and believe that the father is in me, and I in him." 39 Again they went about to take him, but he escaped out of their hands, 40 and went away again beyond Jordan, into the place where John before had baptised, and there abode. 41 And many resorted unto him, and said, "John did no miracle: But all things that John spake of this man are true." 42 And many believed on him there.

Psalms 23:1-6

1 {A Psalm of David} The LORD is my shepherd; I can want nothing. 2 He feedeth me in a green pasture, and leadeth me forth beside the waters of comfort. 3 He quickeneth my soul, and bringeth me forth in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me against mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, and fillest my cup full. 6 O let thy loving-kindness and mercy follow me all the days of my life, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
