¹⁵ lest if thou make any agremente wyth the inhabiters of the lande, when they go a whorynge after theyr Gods and do sacrifice vnto theyr Goddes, they cal the and thou eate of theyr sacrifyce: ¹⁶ and thou take of theyr daughters vnto thy sonnes, and when theyr daughters goo a whorynge after theyr Goddes,

³⁰ Beware that thou be not taken in a snare after them, after that they be destroyed before the, & that thou aske not after theyr Gods sayinge: how dyd these nations serue theyr Goddes. that I maye do so lykewyse: ³¹ Naye, thou shalt not do so vnto the Lorde thy God: for all abhominacions whyche the Lorde hated dyd they vnto theyr Goddes. For they burnt both their sonnes and their daughters with fire vnto their Goddes.

¹ Ahaz was .xx. yere olde when he beganne to raygne, & raygned .xvi. yere in Ierusalem. And he dyd not that pleased the Lorde, as dyd hys father Dauid: ² but walked in the wayes of the kynges of Israel and made therto Baals of metall. ³ And he offered cense in the valeye of the children of Hennon, and burnt his children in fyre after the abhominacyon of the nacyons which the Lord cast out before the chyldren of Israel. ⁴ And he offered burnt cense in hilaulters & on mountaynes and vnder euery grene tre.

¹⁰ Iod. The wemen (which of nature are pitieful) haue sodden their owne children with their handes that they might be their meate, in the miserable destruccion of the daughter of my people.

² Beware of dogges, beware of euyll workes. Beware of dyssencyon.

³⁶ In so much that they worshipped their images, which turned to their owne decay. ³⁷ Yea they offred their sons and their daughters vnto deuels. ³⁸ And shed the innocent bloud of their sonnes and of their daughters, whom they offered vnto the ymages of Canaan, so that the land was defiled with bloud.

⁶ In that tyme will I make the princes of Iuda lyke an hote burninge ouen with wood, & lyke a cresset of fyre among the strawe, so that they shal consume al the people rounde about them, both vpon the right hand and the left. Ierusalem also shalbe inhabited agayne: namely, in the same place, where Ierusalem standeth.

⁷ I my self fedde the slaughter shepe (a pore flocke verely) & toke vnto me two staues: the one I called louinge mekenesse, the other I called wo, & so I kepte the shepe. ⁸ Thre sheperdes destroyeth I in one moneth, for I might not away wt them, neither had they any delyte in me. ⁹ Then sayd I: I wil fede you no more, the thing that dieth, let it dye: & that wil perishe, let it perishe, & let the remnaunt eate, euery one the fleshe of his neyghboure.

¹³ Agayne, thus sayeth the Lorde God: For so moch as they saye vnto you: thou art an eater vp of men, & a waster of thy people: ¹⁴ therfore thou shalt eate no mo men, nether destroye thy people eny more, sayeth the Lorde God. ¹⁵ And I wyll not suffre the, for to heare thyne owne confusyon amonge the Gentiles from henceforth. Thou shalt not beare the reprofe of the nacions, ner cast out thyne owne people enymore, sayeth the Lorde God.

¹ Heare, O ye heades of the house of Iacob, & peleders of the house of Israel: Shulde not ye know what were lawfull and ryght? ² But ye hate the good, and loue the euell: ye plucke of mennes skynnes, and the flesh from their bones: ³ ye eate the flesh of my people, and slay of their skynne: ye breake their bones, ye choppe them in peces as it were in to a cauldron, and as flesh into a pot. ⁴ Now the tyme shall come, that when they call vnto the Lorde, he shall not heare them, but hyde hys face from them, because that thorowe their owne Imaginacyons they haue dealte so wyckedly.

⁹ I wyll fede them also with the fleshe of their sonnes and their daughters. Yee euery one shall eate vp another in the besegynge & straytnesse, wherwith their enemyes (that seke their lyues) shall kepe them in.

²⁰ Res. Behold, O Lord, and consydre, why hast thou gathered me vp so cleane? Shall the wemen then eate their owne fruyte, euen chyldren of a spanne longe? Shall the prestes and prophetes be slayne thus in the Sanctuarye of the Lorde?

¹⁰ Let ther not be founde among you that maketh hys sonne or daughter to go thorow the fyre, or that vseth withcrafte, or a choser out of dayes or that regardeth the flieng of foules,

²⁸ But and yf anye man saye vnto you: this is dedicate vnto Idols, eate not of it for his sake that sheweth it, and for hurtyng of conscience (The earth is the Lordes, & al that therin is)

¹⁹ For this cause shall the wrath of the Lorde of Hostes fal vpon the lande, and the people shalbe consumed, as it were with fyre, no man shall spare his brother. ²⁰ Yf a man do turne him to the ryght hande, he shall famishe, or to the lefte hande to eate, he shall not haue ynough. Euery man shall eate the fleshe of his owne arme.

¹⁰ For in the fathers shall be fayne to eate their owne sonnes, and the sonnes their owne fathers. Soch a courte will I kepe in the, & the whole remnaunt will I scatre in to all the wyndes.
