²⁵ that thou lust not after he beuty in thine herte, & lest thou be taken wt her fayre lokes.

¹ But now, the Lorde that made the O Iacob, & he that fashyoned the O Israel, sayeth thus: Feare not, for I wyll defende the. I haue called the by name thou art myne owne.

²⁸ But I saye vnto you, that whosoeuer loketh on a wife, lustinge after her, hath committed adulterye with her alredy in his herte

⁵ wherewith we ouerthrowe Imaginations and euerye hye thynge that exalteth it selfe agaynste the knoweledge of God, and brynge into captiuite all vnderstandynge to the obedience of Christe,

² Set youre affeccion on thinges that are aboue, and not on thinges, which are on the earth. ³ For ye are dead and youre lyfe is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ which is our life, shal shew him selfe then shal ye also appere wyth him in glorye. ⁵ Mortifie therfore, youre members whiche are on the earth, fornicacion, vnclenes, vnnatural, lust euil concupiscence, and couetousnesse, which is worshippinge of Idolles,

⁵ An open rebuke is beter then a secrete loue. ⁶ Faythfull are the woundes of a louer, but the kysses of an enemy are disceatful

³¹ But vnto them that haue the Lorde before their eyes, shal strength be encreased, Aegles wynges shall growe vpon them: When they runne they shall not fal: and when they go, they shal not be weery.

⁸ Furthermore brethren, whatsoeuer thynges are true, whatsoeuer thinges are honest, whatsoeuer thinges are iuste, whatsoeuer thinges are pure, whatsoeuer thinges pertaine to loue, whatsoeuer thinges are of honeste report: yf there be anie vertuous thinge yf there be anye laudable thinge, ⁹ those same haue ye in your minde, whiche ye haue both learned and receiued, hearde, and also sene in me: those thinges do, and the God of peace shall be wyth you.

²⁵ Which of you with takynge thoughte can adde to hys stature one cubyte? ²⁶ Yf ye then be not able to do that thyng whiche is least: why take ye thoughte for the remnaunt?

³⁰ I can of myne owne selfe do nothinge at all. As I heare. I iudge: and my iudgement is iust, because I seke not mine owne wyll but the wyll of my father which hath sent me.

³⁰ Sin. As for fauour, it is disceatfull, & beuty is a vayne thing: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she is worthy to be praysed.

⁴ I charge you, O ye daughters of Ierusalem. that ye walke not vp my loue, nor touch her, tyll she be content her self.

⁹ But and if they cannot abstayne, let them mary. For it is better to mary, then burne.

⁴ Loue suffreth longe, and is curteous. Loue enuieth not. Loue doth not frowardelye, swelleth not, dealeth not dishonestlye, ⁵ seketh not her owne, is not prouoketh to anger, thinketh not euil, ⁶ reioiceth not in iniquitie: but reioiseth in the trueth, ⁷ suffreth all thinge, beleueth all thinges, hopeth al thinges, endureth in all thinges.

²² Lustes of youth auoyde, and folow ryghtuousnes, fayth, loue, & peace, with them that call on the Lorde with pure herte.
