²² Thou shalt not lye wyth makynde as wt womankynd, for that is abhominacion.

¹ And the quene of Saba hearde of the wysdome of Salomon concernyng the name of the Lord, and came to proue hym wyth rydelles.

¹⁹ And Hadad had great fauoure in the syght of Pharao, so that he gaue hym to wyfe the syster of hys owne lyfe, the syster of Thahaphnes the Quene.

⁶ And the kynge sayde vnto me, & so dyd the quene that sat by him: how long shal thy iourney continue, & when wylt thou come againe? And it pleased the kinge to sende me, and I set hym a tyme,

¹⁸ The chyldren gather stickes the fathers kyndle the fyre, the mothers kneade the doughe, to bake cakes for the quene of heauen, They poure out drincke offerynges vnto straunge goddes, to prouoke me vnto wrath:

²⁵ Thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes the God of Israel: Ye & your wyues haue spoken with your own mouth, the thing that ye haue fulfylled in dede. Yea thus haue ye saide: We wyl not fayle but do the thynge that pleaseth vs: we will do sacrifice and poure not drinckofferynges to the Quene of heauen. Purposlye haue ye set vp your owne good meaninges, & hastely haue ye fulfilled youre owne intente.

⁴² The quene of the south shall ryse at the daye of iudgement with this generacion, and shall condemne theim: for she came from the vttermost parties of the worlde to hear the wysdome of Salomon. And beholde a greater then Salomon is here.

³¹ The quene of the south shall ryse at iudgement with the men of thys generation: & condempne them: for she came from the ende of the world to heare the wysdome of Salomon. And beholde a greater then Salomon is here.

²⁷ And he arose and wente on. And beholde a man of Ethiopia, whiche was a chamberlayne, and of greate auctorite with Candace quene of the Ethiopians, and had the rule of all her treasure, came to Hierusalem for to praye.

⁹ Do ye not remembre, howe that the vnrightuous shall not inheret the kyngdome of God? Be not deceyued. For neither fornicatours, neither worshipers of ymages, neither whormongers, neyther weaklinges, neither abusers of them selues wyth the mankynde,

¹⁷ And the kinge loued Esther aboue all the wemen, and she founde grace and mercy in his syghte before all the virgins: and he sette the quenes croune vpon her heade, and made her quene in steade of Vasthi.

¹⁰ And on the seuenth daye when the kynge was mery of the wine, he commaunded Mehuman, Bartha, Harbona, Bagatha, Abagatha, Zathar & Carcas, the seuen chamberlaynes (that dyd seruice in the presence of king Ahasuerus) ¹¹ to fetche the quene Vasthi, wt the crowne regal, that he myght shewe the people and princes her fairnesse: for she was bewtiful. ¹² But the quene Vasthi woulde not come at the kynges worde by his chamberlaynes. Then was the kinge very wroth, and his indignacion kindled in him. ¹³ And the king spake to the wyse men that hath vnderstanding in the ordynaunces of the land for the kinges matters must be handled before all suche as haue knowledge of the lawe and iudgement: ¹⁴ and the nexte vnto hym were Carsena, Sethar, Admatha, Charsis, Mares, Marsana and Mamucan, the seuen princes of the Persians, and Medes, which sawe the kinges face, and sat aboue in the kingedom. ¹⁵ What law should be execute vpon the quene Vasthi, because she dyd not accordynge to the worde of the kynge by his chamberlaynes. ¹⁶ Then sayde Mamucan before the kynge and the princes: the quene Vasthi hath not onely done euyl agaynst the kinge but also agaynst al the prynces and all the people in al the landes of king Ahasuerus, ¹⁷ for this deed of the quene shal come abroad vnto all the wemen, so that they shall despise their husbandes before their eyes, and shall saye: the kyng Ahasuerus commaunded Vasthi the quene to come before him, but she woulde not. ¹⁸ And so shall the princesses in Persia and Media saye lykewise vnto all the kynges prynces, when they heare of this deede of the quene, thus shal there aryse despitefulnes and wrath ynough. ¹⁹ Yf it please the kynge, let there go a commaundement from him, and let it be wrytten accordynge to the lawe of the Persians and Medians (and not to be transgressed) that Vasthi come no more before the kynge Ahasuerus, and let the king geue the kyngedome vnto another that is better then she. ²⁰ And that this writtinge of the king which shalbe made, be publyshed thorowe oute all his empyre (whiche is greate) that all wyues maye holde their husbandes in honoure, both amonge greate and small. ²¹ This pleased the kinge and the princes, and the kynge dyd accordynge to the worde of Mamucan. ²² Then were there letters sent forthe in all the kynges landes, into euery lande, accordynge to the wryttinge therof, & to euery people after their language, that euery man should be Lord in hys own house. And this caused he be spoken after the language of hys people.

¹ And the quene of Saba hearde of the wysdome of Salomon concernyng the name of the Lord, and came to proue hym wyth rydelles. ² And she came to Ierusalem wyth a myghtye great multitude of Camels that bare swete odoures and goulde exceding much, & precious stones. And when she was come to Salomon, she communed wyth hym of all that was in her hert. ³ And Salomon expounded her all her questions, that there was not one thynge hyd from the kynge which he expounded her not. ⁴ And when the quene of Saba had sene all Salomons wysdome, & the house that he had buylt, ⁵ & the meate of hys table, & the syttynge of hys seruauntes, and the standynge of hys seruytours & their apparell, & his buttelers, & hys sacrifyce that he offered in the house of the Lord, she was astonyed. ⁶ Then she said to the kynge: the worde I hearde in myne owne land of thy dedes and wysdome, is true. ⁷ How be it I beleued it not, tyll I came and sawe it wyth myne eyes. And se, the one halfe was not told me: for thy wysdome and goodnesse exceadeth the fame which I hearde. ⁸ Happy are thy men: and happye are these thy seruauntes, whiche stande euer before the, and heare thy wysdom. ⁹ And blessed be the Lorde thy God which had a luste to the, to set the on the seate of Israell, because the Lorde loued Israel for euer, and therfore made the kynge, to do equite & ryghtuousnesse. ¹⁰ And she gaue the kynge an hundred and .xx. talentes of gould, and of swete odours excedinge moche, & precyouse stones There came neuer after such aboundaunce of swete odours as the quene of Saba gaue to kyng Salomon. ¹¹ And therto the shyppes of Hiram that brought goulde from Ophir, broughte from Ophir great plentye of Almuge tre & precyouse stones. ¹² And kynge Salomon made of the Almuge trees pyllers in the house of the Lord & in the kynges palace, & made harpes & Psalteryes for syngers There came no more Almuge tre so, nor was any more sene vnto this daye. ¹³ And kyng Salomon gaue vnto the Quene of Saba al her desyre that she asked of him besydes that he gave her with hys owne hand. And so she returned vnto her owne countrey wyth her seruauntes.
