³ And I haue fylled hym wyth the spirite of God, with wysdome, vnderstandynge and knoledge: euen in all maner worke, ⁴ to fynd out suttle feaytes, to worcke in golde syluer and brasse ⁵ and wyth the crafte to graue stones, to sette and to carue in tymber and to worke in al maner warkemanshype.

⁴ The worde of the Lord spake thus vnto me: ⁵ Before I fashyoned the in thy mothers wombe, I did know the. And or euer thou wast borne, I sanctifyed the, and ordeyned the, to be a Prophete vnto the people. ⁶ Then sayde I: Oh Lorde God, I am vnmete, for I am yet but younge. ⁷ And the Lorde answered me thus: Saye not so, I am to younge. For thou shalt go to al that I shall sende the vnto, and whatsoeuer I commaund the, that shalt thou speake. ⁸ Be not afrayed of their faces, for I wilbe with the, to delyuer the, sayeth the Lorde. ⁹ And with that, the Lorde stretched oute his hande, and touched my mouthe, and sayde moreouer vnto me. Beholde I put my wordes in thy mouth, ¹⁰ & this daye do I set the ouer the people & kingedomes, that thou mayest rote oute, breake of, destroye, & make waste: and that thou mayest buylde vp and plante. ¹¹ After thys, the Lorde spake vnto me sayinge: Ieremy, what seyst thou? And I sayde: I se a wakinge roade. ¹² Then sayde the Lord: thou hast sene ryght, for I will watch diligentlye vpon my worde, to perfourme it. ¹³ It happened afterwarde, that the Lorde spake to me againe, and sayde: What seyst thou? And I sayd: I do se a seethinge pot, lokinge from oute of the North hytherward. ¹⁴ Then saide the Lorde vnto me: Oute of the Northe shall come a plage vpon all the dwellers of the lande. ¹⁵ For lo, I wil cal all the officers of the kingdomes of the north (saieth the Lorde.) And they shall come, and euery one shall set the seate in the gates of Ierusalem, and in al their walles round aboute and thorowe al the cytyes of Iuda. ¹⁶ And thorowe them shall I declare my iudgement, vpon all the wyckednesse of those men that haue forsaken me: that haue offered vnto straunge Goddes, and worshipped the workes of their owne handes. ¹⁷ And therfore gyrde vp thy loines, arise, and tell them al, that I geue the in commaundement. Feare them not, I will not haue the to be afrayed of them. ¹⁸ For beholde, this daye do I make the a strong fensed towne, an yron pyler, and a wall of stele agaynst the whole lande, against the kinges and myghtye men of Iuda, agaynste the priestes and people of the lande. ¹⁹ They shall fyght against the, but they shall not be able to ouercome the: for I am with the, to delyuer the, sayeth the Lord.

¹ Take hede to your almes, that ye geue it not in the sight of men, to the intent that ye would be sene of them. Or els ye get no rewarde of youre father whyche is in heauen. ² Whensoeuer therfore thou geuest thime almes, thou shalt not make a trompet to be blowen before the, as the hypocrytes do in the synagoges and in the stretes, for to be praised of men. Verely I saye vnto you, they haue their rewarde. ³ But when thou doest thine almes, let not thy lyft hande knowe what thy ryght hande doth, ⁴ that thyne almes may be secrete: and thy father whiche seeth in secrete, shall rewarde the openly. ⁵ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hipocrites are. For they loue to stande and praye in the sinagoges, and in the corners of the stretes, and because they wolde be seane of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde. ⁶ But when thou prayest, entre into thy chamber, & shut thy dore to the, & praie to thi father which is in secrete: & thy father which seeth in secrete, shall rewarde the openlye. ⁷ But when ye praye, bable not much as the Heathen do: for they thinke that they shalbe herde, for their muche bablynge sake. ⁸ Be ye not lyke them therfore. For your father knoweth wherof ye haue neade, before ye axe of him ⁹ after this manner therfore pray ye. Our father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name. ¹⁰ Let thy kingdome come. Thy wyll be fulfylled, as well in earth, as it is in heauen. ¹¹ Geue vs this daye our daylye breade. ¹² And forgeue vs our trespases, euen as we forgeue oure trespasers. ¹³ And lead vs not into temptaciou. But delyuer vs from euyll. For thyne is the kingdome and the power, and the glorye for euer Amen. ¹⁴ For and if ye shall forgeue other men their trespases, your heauenlye father shall also forgeue you. ¹⁵ But and ye wyll not forgeue men theyr trespases, no more shall your father forgeue your trespases. ¹⁶ Moreouer when ye fast, be not sad as the hipocrites are. For they disfygure their faces, that they myght be sene of men how they fast. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde. ¹⁷ But thou, when thou fastest, annoint thine head, & wash thy face ¹⁸ that it appeare not vnto men howe that thou fastest but vnto thy father which is in secrete: & thy father which seth in secret shal reward the openly. ¹⁹ Se that ye gater you not treasure vpon the earth, where ruste & mothes corrupte, & wher theues breake throughe & steale. ²⁰ But gather ye treasure together in heauen, where neither rust nor mothes corrupt, & where theues neyther breake vp nor yet steale. ²¹ For wher soeuer your treasur is, ther wyl your hertes be also. ²² The lyght of thy body is thine eye. Wherfore if thine eye be single, al thy bodye shalbe full of light. ²³ But and if thyne eye be wycked then al thy bodye shalbe ful of darkenes. Wherfore if the light that is in the, be darkenes: how great is that darckenes? ²⁴ No man can serue two maysters. For eyther he shall hate the one & loue the other: yea or eles he shall leane to the one & dispise the other. Ye cannot serue God & Mammon. ²⁵ Therfore I saie vnto you, be not tareful for you life what ye shall eate or what ye shall dryncke, nor yet for your bodye, what ye shall put on, is not the lyfe more worthe then meate, and the body more of value then rayment? ²⁶ Behold the foules of the ayer: for the sowe not, neyther reape, nor yet cary into the barnes: and yet your heauenlye father fedethe them. Are ye not muche better then they? ²⁷ Whych of you (though he toke thoughte therfore) coulde put one cubit vnto hys statuture? ²⁸ And why care ye then for rayment? Considre the lylies of the filde, howe they growe. They laboureth not nether spynne. ²⁹ And yet for all that I saye vnto you that euen Solomon in all hys royaltie was not arayed lyke vnto one of these. ³⁰ Wherfore if God so clothe the grasse, which is to day in the felde, and to morowe shall be cast in to the fournace: shall he not much more do the same vnto you, o ye of lytle fayth? ³¹ Therfore take no thought saiynge: what shall we eate, or what shall we dryncke, or wherewith shal we be clothed? ³² After all these thynges seke the gentils. For your heauenlye father knoweth that ye haue neade of all these thynges. ³³ But rather seke ye first the kyngdome of heauen and the rightuousnes therof, & all these thynge shalbe ministred vnto you. ³⁴ Care not then for the morow, but let the morow care for itself: for the day present hath euer ynough of his owne trouble.

¹⁴ & let youre busynes be done in loue.

¹⁰ And let al them that are wyseherted among you, come and make all that the Lorde hath commaunded:

¹⁴ Ye are the light of the worlde. A cytye that is set on an hill, can not be hid, ¹⁵ neither do men light a candell & put it vnder a bushell, but on a candelsticke, and it lighteth al that are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shyne before men that they maye se your good workes, and gloryfye your father which is in heauen.

¹⁰ As euerye man hath receyued the gifte, minister the same one to another as good mynisters of the manifolde grace of God.

¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes.

¹⁴ Lykewyse as a certayne man, redye to take iorney to a straunge countre, called hys seruauntes and delyuered to them his goodes. ¹⁵ And vnto one he gaue fyue talentes, to another .ij. and to another one: to euery man after his abylite, and straight waye departed. ¹⁶ Then he that had receyued the .v. talentes, went and bestowed them and wan other fyue talentes. ¹⁷ Likewise he that receiued two, gained other two. ¹⁸ But he that receiued the one, wente and digged a pit in the earth and hid his maisters money. ¹⁹ After a longe season the Lorde of those seruauntes came and rekened with them. ²⁰ Then came he that had receyued .v. talentes, and brought other .v. talentes, sayinge: maister thou delyuerest vnto me fyue talentes beholde I haue gained with them fyue talentes mo. ²¹ Then his maister sayde vnto him: Well good seruaunt and faithfull. Thou hast bene faythfull in litle, I wyll make the rueler ouer muche enter in into thy maisters ioye. ²² Also he that receiued .ij. talentes, came and sayed mayster thou deliuerest vnto me twoo talentes, beholde I haue won two other talentes with them. ²³ And his maister sayde vnto hym, well good seruaunt and faithfull. Thou hast bene faithfull in litle, I wyll make the ruler ouer much: go in into thy maisters ioye. ²⁴ Then he which had receiued the one talent, came & sayde, maister, I consydered that thou waste an harde man, which repest were thou sowest not, & gadderest where thou strawest not, ²⁵ and was therfore afraide, and went and hid thy talente in the earth: beholde, thou hast thyne owne. ²⁶ His maister aunswered and said vnto hym: thou euyll seruaunte and slouthful, thou knewest that I repe wher I sowed not, and gadder wher I strawed not: ²⁷ thou oughtest therfore to haue had my money to the chaungers, then at my commynge shoulde I haue receyued myne owne with vauntage. ²⁸ Take therfore the talent from him, and giue it vnto him which hath ten talentes. ²⁹ For vnto euerye man that hathe shalbe geuen, and he shall haue aboundaunce, and from hym that hath not, shall be taken awaye, euen that he hath. ³⁰ And caste that vnprofytable seruaunt into vtter darcknes: there shalbe wepinge & gnashinge of tethe.

⁶ Seynge that we haue dyuers gyftes, accordynge to the grace that is geuen vnto vs: yf any man haue the gyft of prophesy, let him haue it that it be agreyng vnto the fayth.
