²⁸ »‘Never slash your body to mourn the dead, and never get a tattoo. I am Jehovah.

²⁶ My son, give me your heart and let your eyes keep my ways.

¹² Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, and our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace.

¹¹ ‘I know the plans (intentions) (thoughts) that I have for you, says Jehovah. They are plans (intentions) for peace and not disaster. They are intentions to give you a future filled with hope.

¹ I request (urge) (implore) you brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. ² Do not be conformed to this world (religious, social, political, and economic arrangement). But be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

²⁹ Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth. Speak what is good for understanding as the need may be, that it may give grace (divine favor) to those who hear.

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. God is faithful and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your limits. He will make a way out, that you will be able to endure it.

²² Flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord with a clean heart.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. ² Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise. ³ Then it will go well with you, and you may live long on the earth. ⁴ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of God.

¹ Remember your Creator (Hebrew: Bara’, plural, Creators denotes majesty) (Ge 1:26) in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near. You will say: »I have no pleasure in them.«

⁹ How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to your word.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth. Let your heart cheer you in your early days. Walk in the ways of your heart, and in the desires of your eyes. Yet you know that God will bring you into judgment for all these things.

⁴ Jehovah spoke his word to me, Jeremiah, He said: ⁵ »Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.« ⁶ I, Jeremiah, said: »Lord Jehovah, I do not know how to speak. I am only a child!« ⁷ Jehovah said to me: »‘Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go wherever I send you. You must say whatever I command you to say. ⁸ »Do not be afraid of people. I am with you. I will rescue you,« says Jehovah.

¹² Let no man look down on your youth. Be an example to the believers in speech and conduct, in love, in faith and chasteness.
