¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him; and without him was nothing made that was made.

¹ Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus: ² Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places: ⁴ Just as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him. In love ⁵ He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to his good pleasure and will, ⁶ To the praise of his glorious grace, which he freely bestowed upon us in the beloved. ⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; ⁸ Which he has lavished upon us in all wisdom and prudence; ⁹ Having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he set forth in him: ¹⁰ That in the fulness of time he might gather all things together under Christ, both things which are in heaven, and things which are on earth. In him ¹¹ We have also obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will: ¹² That we who first trusted in Christ should live for the praise of his glory. ¹³ In him you also, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴ Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession, to the praise of his glory. ¹⁵ Therefore, I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love for all the saints, ¹⁶ Do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; ¹⁷ That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: ¹⁸ That the eyes of your heart may be enlightened; so you may know what is the hope of his calling, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ And what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe. It is the working of his mighty power, ²⁰ Which he exerted in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ Far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. ²² And he has put all things under his feet, and has appointed him to be the head over all things for the church, ²³ Which is his body, the fulness of him who fills all things everywhere.

²² The light of the body is the eye: therefore, if your eye is sound, your whole body shall be full of light.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walks about, seeking someone he may devour.

⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. ⁹ Do not be carried away by varied and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing for the heart to be established by grace, not by foods, which have not benefitted those who have been occupied with them.

²¹ For prophecy did not come in times of old by the will of man: but holy men spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

² And do not be conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good, and acceptable, and perfect.

²⁰ For since the creation of the world his invisible nature, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly seen, being understood by the things that have been made; so that they are without excuse:
