¹ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; ² To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; ³ To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; ⁴ To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. ⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: ⁶ To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. ⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ⁸ My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother: ⁹ For they shall be an ornament of grace unto your head, and chains about your neck. ¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, consent you not. ¹¹ If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause: ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: ¹³ We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: ¹⁴ Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse: ¹⁵ My son, walk not you in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path: ¹⁶ For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. ¹⁷ Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. ¹⁸ And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privately for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of the owners thereof. ²⁰ Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets: ²¹ She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying, ²² How long, all of you simple ones, will all of you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. ²⁴ Because I have called, and all of you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; ²⁵ But all of you have set at nothing all my counsel, and refused my reproof: ²⁶ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes; ²⁷ When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you. ²⁸ Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: ²⁹ For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: ³⁰ They refused my counsel: they despised all my reproof. ³¹ Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. ³² For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. ³³ But whoso hearkens unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

¹⁵ Moreover if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone: if he shall hear you, you have gained your brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word (o. rhema) may be established. ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as an heathen man and a publican.

³⁶ Master, which is the great commandment in the law? ³⁷ Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself.

¹⁷ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. ¹⁸ And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; ¹⁹ To know, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word (o. logos) of reconciliation. ²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did plead to you by us: we pray you in Christ's position, be all of you reconciled to God. ²¹ For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

¹ We then, as workers together with him, plead to you also that all of you receive not the grace of God in vain. ² (For he says, I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I helped you: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

³⁰ For we know him that has said, Vengeance belongs unto me, I will recompense, says the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

²² Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

¹ Judge not, that all of you be not judged. ² For with what judgment all of you judge, all of you shall be judged: and with what measure all of you mete, it shall be measured to you again.

¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do all of you.

¹¹ The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. ¹² She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. ¹³ She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands. ¹⁴ She is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from far. ¹⁵ She rises also while it is yet night, and gives food to her household, and a portion to her maidens. ¹⁶ She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. ¹⁷ She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms. ¹⁸ She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goes not out by night. ¹⁹ She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. ²⁰ She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reachs forth her hands to the needy.

⁹ He that walks uprightly walks surely: but he that perverts his ways shall be known.

² With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (o. agape)

⁵ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; ⁶ And to knowledge wilful restrain; and to wilful restrain patience; and to patience godliness; ⁷ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. (o. agape) ⁸ For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that all of you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

⁵ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
