Psalms 77:1-20
1 To the director: To Jeduthun. A psalm of Asaph.. I cry out to God! I cry out to God and he hears me.
2 In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord: my hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not; my soul refused to be comforted.
3 I remember God and I murmur, I muse, and my spirit swooneth. [Selah.]
4 You hold my eyes from closing: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
5 I thought upon the days of old, the years of bygone ages.
6 I remember my song in the night,—With my own heart, I commune, And my spirit, maketh search:—
7 Will the Lord reject me forever and not show favor again?
8 Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations?
9 Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?" Selah.
10 Then I thought: I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.
11 I will remember the deeds of Yah. Surely I will remember your wonders from long ago.
12 I will also meditate on all your work and consider your activities.
13 Your way, O God, is holy: what god is so great as our God?
14 You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.
15 With your arm you redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
16 The waters saw you, God. The waters saw you, and they writhed. The depths also convulsed.
17 The clouds poured out water. The skies resounded with thunder. Your arrows also flashed around.
18 The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind, the lightnings lit up the world, the earth trembled and shook.
19 Your way was through the sea; your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known.
20 You led your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

13 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Sovereign LORD says: My servants will eat, but you will go hungry. My servants will drink, but you will go thirsty. My servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame!
14 My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.
15 You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse. The Sovereign Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.

James 1:1-27
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Diaspora: Greetings.
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
4 Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
6 But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
7 For that man should not think that he will receive anything from the Lord,
8 [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9 The brother in humble circumstances should exult in his high position.
10 But the one who is rich should exult in his low position, because he will pass away like a flower of the field.
11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone.
14 But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed.
15 Then when passion has conceived it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death.
16 Do not be deceived, my dear brothers.
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.
18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.
19 My beloved brothers, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,
20 for man’s anger does not bring about the righteousness that God desires.
21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly receive the word planted in you, which can save your souls.
22 Obey the message; do not merely listen to it, and deceive yourselves.
23 For anyone who hears the word but does not carry it out is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror,
24 and after observing himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
25 But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom, and continues to do so—not being a forgetful hearer, but an effective doer—he will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless.
27 Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Joshua 1:9
9 Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
