²⁸ "'You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you. I am the LORD.

¹² Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

²⁶ My son, give me your heart; and let your eyes keep in my ways.

¹¹ For I know the plans that I have for you,' says the LORD, 'plans for your welfare, and not for calamity, to give you hope and a future.

²² Flee the lusts of youth; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

⁹ BET How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth— before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them!"

⁹ Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

⁴ Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ⁵ “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” ⁶ I, Jeremiah, said: "Sovereign LORD, I do not know how to speak. I am only a child!" ⁷ the LORD said to me: "'Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go wherever I send you. You must say whatever I command you to say. ⁸ Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you," declares the LORD.

¹² Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for other believers in your speech, behavior, love, faithfulness, and purity.
