²¹ that they all may be one, as Thou Father art in me, and I in Thee; that they also in us may be one, that the world may believe that Thou didst send me.

¹⁹ for it behoveth sects also to be among you, that those approved may become manifest among you;

²⁰ and the mediator is not of one, and God is one—

¹ Call upon you, then, do I—the prisoner of the Lord—to walk worthily of the calling with which ye were called,
² with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, ³ being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of the peace; ⁴ one body and one Spirit, according as also ye were called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in you all, ⁷ and to each one of you was given the grace, according to the measure of the gift of Christ, ⁸ wherefore, he saith, `Having gone up on high he led captive captivity, and gave gifts to men,' — ⁹ and that, he went up, what is it except that he also went down first to the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ he who went down is the same also who went up far above all the heavens, that He may fill all things— ¹¹ and He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as proclaimers of good news, and some as shepherds and teachers, ¹² unto the perfecting of the saints, for a work of ministration, for a building up of the body of the Christ, ¹³ till we may all come to the unity of the faith and of the recognition of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to a measure of stature of the fulness of the Christ,

¹⁸ `And I also say to thee, that thou art a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it;

⁴ for as in one body we have many members, and all the members have not the same office, ⁵ so we, the many, one body are in Christ, and members each one of one another. ⁶ And having gifts, different according to the grace that was given to us; whether prophecy—`According to the proportion of faith!' <sup>7</sup> or ministration—`In the ministration!' or he who is teaching—`In the teaching!' <sup>8</sup> or he who is exhorting—`In the exhortation!' he who is sharing—`In simplicity!' he who is leading—`In diligence?' he who is doing kindness—`In cheerfulness.' <sup>9</sup> The love unfeigned: abhorring the evil; cleaving to the good; <sup>10</sup> in the love of brethren, to one another kindly affectioned: in the honour going before one another; <sup>11</sup> in the diligence not slothful; in the spirit fervent; the Lord serving; <sup>12</sup> in the hope rejoicing; in the tribulation enduring; in the prayer persevering; <sup>13</sup> to the necessities of the saints communicating; the hospitality pursuing. <sup>14</sup> Bless those persecuting you; bless, and curse not; <sup>15</sup> to rejoice with the rejoicing, and to weep with the weeping, <sup>16</sup> of the same mind one toward another, not minding the high things, but with the lowly going along; become not wise in your own conceit; <sup>17</sup> giving back to no one evil for evil; providing right things before all men. <sup>18</sup> If possible—so far as in you—with all men being in peace; <sup>19</sup> not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to the wrath, for it hath been written, `Vengeance is Mine, ²⁰ I will recompense again, saith the Lord;' if, then, thine enemy doth hunger, feed him; if he doth thirst, give him drink; for this doing, coals of fire thou shalt heap upon his head; ²¹ Be not overcome by the evil, but overcome, in the good, the evil.

¹³ Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

²⁵ And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them, `Every kingdom having been divided against itself is desolated, and no city or house having been divided against itself, doth stand,

²⁰ `And not in regard to these alone do I ask, but also in regard to those who shall be believing, through their word, in me; <sup>21</sup> that they all may be one, as Thou Father art in me, and I in Thee; that they also in us may be one, that the world may believe that Thou didst send me. <sup>22</sup> `And I, the glory that thou hast given to me, have given to them, that they may be one as we are one; ²³ I in them, and Thou in me, that they may be perfected into one, and that the world may know that Thou didst send me, and didst love them as Thou didst love me.
²⁴ `Father, those whom Thou hast given to me, I will that where I am they also may be with me, that they may behold my glory that Thou didst give to me, because Thou didst love me before the foundation of the world. <sup>25</sup> `Righteous Father, also the world did not know Thee, and I knew Thee, and these have known that Thou didst send me, ²⁶ and I made known to them Thy name, and will make known, that the love with which Thou lovedst me in them may be, and I in them.'

⁴ for when one may say, `I, indeed, am of Paul;' and another, `I—of Apollos;' are ye not fleshly?
⁵ Who, then, is Paul, and who Apollos, but ministrants through whom ye did believe, and to each as the Lord gave? ⁶ I planted, Apollos watered, but God was giving growth; ⁷ so that neither is he who is planting anything, nor he who is watering, but He who is giving growth—God;

¹ And thou—be speaking what doth become the sound teaching;

⁹ every one who is transgressing, and is not remaining in the teaching of the Christ, hath not God; he who is remaining in the teaching of the Christ, this one hath both the Father and the Son;

⁶ I wonder that ye are so quickly removed from Him who did call you in the grace of Christ to another good news; ⁷ that is not another, except there be certain who are troubling you, and wishing to pervert the good news of the Christ; ⁸ but even if we or a messenger out of heaven may proclaim good news to you different from what we did proclaim to you—anathema let him be! ⁹ as we have said before, and now say again, If any one to you may proclaim good news different from what ye did receive—anathema let him be!
¹⁰ for now men do I persuade, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if yet men I did please—Christ's servant I should not be.

¹² For, even as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ, ¹³ for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink, ¹⁴ for also the body is not one member, but many; ¹⁵ if the foot may say, `Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of the body; <sup>16</sup> and if the ear may say, `Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body;' it is not, because of this, not of the body? ¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where the hearing? if the whole hearing, where the smelling? ¹⁸ and now, God did set the members each one of them in the body, according as He willed, ¹⁹ and if all were one member, where the body? ²⁰ and now, indeed, are many members, and one body; ²¹ and an eye is not able to say to the hand, `I have no need of thee;' nor again the head to the feet, `I have no need of you.' ²² But much more the members of the body which seem to be more infirm are necessary, ²³ and those that we think to be less honourable of the body, around these we put more abundant honour, and our unseemly things have seemliness more abundant, ²⁴ and our seemly things have no need; but God did temper the body together, to the lacking part having given more abundant honour, ²⁵ that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same anxiety for one another, ²⁶ and whether one member doth suffer, suffer with it do all the members, or one member is glorified, rejoice with it do all the members;
²⁷ and ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. ²⁸ And some, indeed, did God set in the assembly, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, afterwards powers, afterwards gifts of healings, helpings, governings, divers kinds of tongues; ²⁹ are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all powers? ³⁰ have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? ³¹ and desire earnestly the better gifts; and yet a far excelling way do I shew to you:

⁴ one body and one Spirit, according as also ye were called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

¹⁷ And I call upon you, brethren, to mark those who the divisions and the stumbling-blocks, contrary to the teaching that ye did learn, are causing, and turn ye away from them;

¹² and I say this, that each one of you saith, `I, indeed, am of Paul' —`and I of Apollos,' —`and I of Cephas,' —`and I of Christ.' ¹³ Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

¹⁰ And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,
