"to make broad," from platus, "broad," is translated "enlarged" in 2 Corinthians 6:11, 2 Corinthians 6:13 (metaphorically), "make broad," Matthew 23:5 (literally). From the primary sense of freedom comes that of the joy that results from it. See BROAD. Cp. platos, "breadth," and plateia, "a street."
