to suffer evil," is translated "suffer hardship" in three places in the RV, 2 Timothy 2:3 (in some mss.; See No. 2), AV, "endure hardness;" 2 Timothy 2:9, AV, "suffer trouble;" 2 Timothy 4:5, AV, "endure affliction;" in James 5:13, RV, "suffering" (AV, "afflicted"). "to suffer hardship with," is so rendered in 2 Timothy 1:8, RV, AV, "be thou partaker of the afflictions" (of the Gospel), and, in the best mss., in 2 Timothy 2:3, "suffer hardship with me." See AFFLICTION, No. 3, Note.
