(a) physically, John 11:9-John 11:10;
(b) metaphorically,
(1) of Israel in regard to Christ, whose Person, teaching, and atoning Death, and the Gospel relating thereto, were contrary to all their ideas as to the means of righteousness before God, Romans 9:32; 1 Peter 2:8;
(2) of a brother in the Lord in acting against the dictates of his conscience, Romans 14:21. See BEAT, No. 6.
