ABU(i)
Woe to you, Pharisees! because ye love the first seat in the synagogues, and the greetings in the markets.
Woe to you! because ye are as tombs that appear not, and men walking over them know it not.
And a certain one of the lawyers answering says to him: Teacher, in saying these things thou reproachest us also.
And he said: Woe to you lawyers also! because ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
Woe to you! because ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
So then ye bear witness to and approve the deeds of your fathers; because they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
Therefore also said the wisdom of God: I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay and persecute;
that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the temple. Verily I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.
Woe to you lawyers! because ye took away the key of knowledge; ye entered not in yourselves, and those who were entering in ye hindered.
And as he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things;
lying in wait for him, seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
