Mark 8:4-9 Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθησαν (answered) αὐτῷ (Him) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅτι (-), “Πόθεν (From where) τούτους (these) δυνήσεταί (will be able) τις (anyone) ὧδε (here) χορτάσαι (to satisfy) ἄρτων (with bread) ἐπ’ (in) ἐρημίας (this desolate place)?”

BIB⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁴ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθησαν (answered) αὐτῷ (Him) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅτι (-), “Πόθεν (From where) τούτους (these) δυνήσεταί (will be able) τις (anyone) ὧδε (here) χορτάσαι (to satisfy) ἄρτων (with bread) ἐπ’ (in) ἐρημίας (this desolate place)?” ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἠρώτα (He was asking) αὐτούς (them), “Πόσους (How many) ἔχετε (have you) ἄρτους (loaves)?” Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said), “Ἑπτά (Seven).” ⁶ Καὶ (And) παραγγέλλει (He directs) τῷ (the) ὄχλῳ (crowd) ἀναπεσεῖν (to recline) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (ground). καὶ (And) λαβὼν (having taken) τοὺς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἄρτους (loaves), εὐχαριστήσας (having given thanks), ἔκλασεν (He broke them) καὶ (and) ἐδίδου (kept giving them) τοῖς (to) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἵνα (that) παρατιθῶσιν (they might set before them). καὶ (And) παρέθηκαν (they set it before) τῷ (the) ὄχλῳ (crowd). ⁷ καὶ (And) εἶχον* (they had) ἰχθύδια (small fish) ὀλίγα (a few). καὶ (And) εὐλογήσας (having blessed) αὐτὰ (them), εἶπεν (He ordered) καὶ (also) ταῦτα (these) παρατιθέναι (to be set before them). ⁸ Καὶ (And) ἔφαγον (they ate) καὶ (and) ἐχορτάσθησαν (were satisfied). καὶ (And) ἦραν (they took up) περισσεύματα (over and above) κλασμάτων (of fragments) ἑπτὰ (seven) σπυρίδας (baskets). ⁹ ἦσαν (There were) δὲ (now) ὡς (about) τετρακισχίλιοι (four thousand). καὶ (And) ἀπέλυσεν (He sent away) αὐτούς (them).
