BIB(i) 1 Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) ἀστέρα (a star) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πεπτωκότα (having fallen) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἡ (the) κλεὶς (key) τοῦ (of the) φρέατος (pit) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss). 2 καὶ (And) ἤνοιξεν (he opened) τὸ (the) φρέαρ (pit) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss), καὶ (and) ἀνέβη (went up) καπνὸς (smoke) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) φρέατος (pit), ὡς (like) καπνὸς (the smoke) καμίνου (of a furnace) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἐσκοτώθη (were darkened) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἀὴρ (air) ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) καπνοῦ (smoke) τοῦ (of the) φρέατος (pit). 3 Καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) καπνοῦ (smoke) ἐξῆλθον (came forth) ἀκρίδες (locusts) εἰς (unto) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐταῖς* (to them) ἐξουσία (power), ὡς (like) ἔχουσιν (have) ἐξουσίαν (power) οἱ (the) σκορπίοι (scorpions) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth). 4 καὶ (And) ἐρρέθη (it was said) αὐταῖς* (to them), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ἀδικήσουσιν (they shall harm) τὸν (the) χόρτον (grass) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), οὐδὲ (nor) πᾶν (any) χλωρὸν (green thing), οὐδὲ (nor) πᾶν (any) δένδρον (tree), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (men) οἵτινες (-) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσι* (having) τὴν (the) σφραγῖδα (seal) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads). 5 καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (it was granted) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ἀποκτείνωσιν (they should kill) αὐτούς (them), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) βασανισθήσονται (they shall torment them) μῆνας (months) πέντε (five). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) βασανισμὸς (torment) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (was like) βασανισμὸς (torment) σκορπίου (of a scorpion), ὅταν (when) παίσῃ (it might strike) ἄνθρωπον (a man). 6 καὶ (And) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) ἐκείναις (those), ζητήσουσιν (will seek) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men) τὸν (-) θάνατον (death), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μὴ (no more) εὑρήσουσιν (will find) αὐτόν (it); καὶ (and) ἐπιθυμήσουσιν (they will long) ἀποθανεῖν (to die), καὶ (and) φεύγει (shall flee) ὁ (-) θάνατος (death) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them). 7 Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) ὁμοιώματα (appearance) τῶν (of the) ἀκρίδων (locusts was) ὅμοια* (like) ἵπποις (horses) ἡτοιμασμένοις (having been prepared) εἰς (for) πόλεμον (battle), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (were something like) στέφανοι (crowns), ὅμοιοι (like) χρυσῷ (gold); καὶ (and) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (like) πρόσωπα (the faces) ἀνθρώπων (of men). 8 καὶ (And) εἶχον* (they had) τρίχας (hair) ὡς (like) τρίχας (hair) γυναικῶν (of women), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ὀδόντες (teeth) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (like those) λεόντων (of lions) ἦσαν (were). 9 καὶ (And) εἶχον (they had) θώρακας (breastplates) ὡς (like) θώρακας (breastplates) σιδηροῦς (of iron), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) φωνὴ (sound) τῶν (of the) πτερύγων (wings) αὐτῶν (of them) ὡς (was as) φωνὴ (the sound) ἁρμάτων (of chariots) ἵππων (of horses) πολλῶν (many) τρεχόντων (rushing) εἰς (into) πόλεμον (battle). 10 καὶ (And) ἔχουσιν (they have) οὐρὰς (tails) ὁμοίας (like) σκορπίοις (scorpions) καὶ (and) κέντρα (stingers), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) οὐραῖς (tails) αὐτῶν (of them) ἡ (is the) ἐξουσία (power) αὐτῶν (of them) ἀδικῆσαι (to injure) τοὺς (-) ἀνθρώπους (men) μῆνας (for months) πέντε (five). 11 ἔχουσιν (They have) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῶν (them) βασιλέα (a king), τὸν (the) ἄγγελον (angel) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss). ὄνομα (The name) αὐτῷ (of Him) Ἑβραϊστί (in Hebrew) Ἀβαδδών (is Abaddon), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) Ἑλληνικῇ (Greek), ὄνομα (the name) ἔχει (he has) Ἀπολλύων (Apollyon). 12 Ἡ (-) Οὐαὶ (Woe) ἡ (the) μία (first) ἀπῆλθεν (has passed). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχεται (are coming) ἔτι (still) δύο (two) Οὐαὶ (woes) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things). 13 Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕκτος (sixth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (voice) μίαν (one) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) κεράτων (horns) τοῦ (of the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) τοῦ (-) χρυσοῦ (golden) τοῦ (-) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), 14 λέγοντα (saying) τῷ (to the) ἕκτῳ (sixth) ἀγγέλῳ (angel), ὁ (the one) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) σάλπιγγα (trumpet), “Λῦσον (Release) τοὺς (the) τέσσαρας (four) ἀγγέλους (angels), τοὺς (those) δεδεμένους (having been bound) ἐπὶ (at) τῷ (the) ποταμῷ (river) τῷ (-) μεγάλῳ (great) Εὐφράτῃ (Euphrates).” 15 καὶ (And) ἐλύθησαν (were released) οἱ (the) τέσσαρες (four) ἄγγελοι (angels) οἱ (-) ἡτοιμασμένοι (having been prepared) εἰς (for) τὴν (the) ὥραν (hour) καὶ (and) ἡμέραν (day) καὶ (and) μῆνα (month) καὶ (and) ἐνιαυτόν (year), ἵνα (so that) ἀποκτείνωσιν (they might kill) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of mankind). 16 καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) τῶν (of the) στρατευμάτων (armies) τοῦ (of the) ἱππικοῦ (cavalry was) δισμυριάδες* (twice ten thousand) μυριάδων (ten thousands); ἤκουσα (I heard) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) αὐτῶν (of them). 17 Καὶ (And) οὕτως (thus) εἶδον (I saw) τοὺς (the) ἵππους (horses) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ὁράσει (vision), καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) καθημένους (sitting) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῶν (them), ἔχοντας (having) θώρακας (breastplates) πυρίνους (fiery) καὶ (and) ὑακινθίνους (hyacinthine) καὶ (and) θειώδεις (brimstone). καὶ (And) αἱ (the) κεφαλαὶ (heads) τῶν (of the) ἵππων (horses were) ὡς (like) κεφαλαὶ (heads) λεόντων (of lions), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the) στομάτων (mouths) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκπορεύεται (proceed) πῦρ (fire), καὶ (and) καπνὸς (smoke), καὶ (and) θεῖον (brimstone). 18 ἀπὸ (By) τῶν (-) τριῶν (three) πληγῶν (plagues) τούτων (these) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (was killed) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of) ἀνθρώπων (mankind), ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) πυρὸς (fire), καὶ (and) τοῦ (by the) καπνοῦ (smoke), καὶ (and) τοῦ (by the) θείου (brimstone), τοῦ (-) ἐκπορευομένου (proceeding) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the) στομάτων (mouths) αὐτῶν (of them). 19 ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) ἐξουσία (powers) τῶν (of the) ἵππων (horses) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) στόματι (mouths) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐστιν (are), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) οὐραῖς (tails) αὐτῶν (of them); αἱ (the) γὰρ (for) οὐραὶ (tails) αὐτῶν (of them) ὅμοιαι (are like) ὄφεσιν (serpents), ἔχουσαι (having) κεφαλάς (heads), καὶ (and) ἐν (with) αὐταῖς (them) ἀδικοῦσιν (they injure). 20 ‹Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) τῶν (of the) ἀνθρώπων (men) οἳ (who) οὐκ (not) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (by) ταῖς (the) πληγαῖς (plagues) ταύταις (these) οὐδὲ (not even) μετενόησαν (repented) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) τῶν (of the) χειρῶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τὰ (the) δαιμόνια (demons), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) εἴδωλα (idols) τὰ (-) χρυσᾶ (golden) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἀργυρᾶ (silver) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) χαλκᾶ (bronze) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) λίθινα (stone) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ξύλινα (wooden), ἃ (which) οὔτε (neither) βλέπειν (to see) δύνανται (are able), οὔτε (nor) ἀκούειν (to hear), οὔτε (nor) περιπατεῖν› (to walk). 21 καὶ (And) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (they repented) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) φόνων (murders) αὐτῶν (of them), οὔτε (nor) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) φαρμάκων (sorceries) αὐτῶν (of them), οὔτε (nor) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῶν (of them), οὔτε (nor) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) κλεμμάτων (thefts) αὐτῶν (of them).
