Matthew 16:13-20

Bishops(i) 13 When Iesus came into the coastes of Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying: Whom do men say that I the sonne of man am 14 They sayde: some say [that thou art] Iohn Baptist, some Helias, some Ieremias, or one of the prophetes 15 He sayth vnto them: but whom say ye that I am 16 Simon Peter aunswered and sayde: Thou art Christe, the sonne of the lyuyng God 17 And Iesus aunswered, and sayde vnto hym: happy art thou Simon Bar Iona, for flesh & blood hath not opened [that] vnto thee, but my father which is in heauen 18 And I say also vnto thee, that thou art Peter, and vpon this rocke I wyll buylde my congregation: And the gates of hell shall not preuayle agaynst it 19 And I wyll geue vnto thee, the keyes of the kingdome of heauen: And whatsoeuer thou byndest in earth, shalbe bounde in heauen: and whatsoeuer thou loosest in earth, shalbe loosed in heauen 20 Then charged he his disciples, that they shoulde tell no man, that he was Iesus Christe
