Luke 7:24-30

Lamsa(i) 24 When JohnÆs disciples had gone, Jesus began to speak to the people concerning John, What did you go out to the wilderness to see? A reed which is shaken by the wind? 25 If not so, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Behold, those who wear fine clothes and live delicately are in kingsÆ houses. 26 And if not so, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet. 27 This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, to prepare the way before you. 28 I say to you that there is no prophet among those who are born of women, who is greater than John the Baptist; and yet even the least person in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29 And all the people who heard it, even the publicans, justified themselves before God, for they were baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and the scribes suppressed the will of God in themselves, because they were not baptized by him.
