2 and they bound him and led him away and gave him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3 Then Judas, (the one giving him up), when he saw that he was condemned, regretted and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the high-priests and the elders, 4 saying, I have sinned, giving up innocent blood.
But they said, What is that to us? You will see to it. 5 And tossing the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed. And having gone away, he hanged himself.
6 Now the high-priests took the pieces of silver and said, It is not legal to put them into the depository, since it is the price of blood. 7 Now they took counsel and bought from them the potter’s field, for the burial of strangers. 8 Hence until today, the field was called, The Field of Blood. 9 Then what was spoken through the prophet was fulfilled, saying, ‘And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one who has been priced, whom some of the sons of Israel priced for themselves; 10 and they gave them for the potter’s field, just-as the Lord commanded me.’
