15 but they cried out, away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said to them, shall I crucify your king? the chief priests answered, we have no king but Cesar.
16 upon which he delivered him up to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took Jesus and led him away.
17 and he bearing his cross, marched out to a place called the skull, which is in the Syriac, Golgotha: where they crucified him,
18 and two others with him, one on each side, and Jesus in the middle.
19 and Pilate caused an inscription to be put over the cross, in these words, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20 now this inscription was read by many of the Jews: for Jesus was crucified nigh the city: and it was written in Syriac, Greek, and Latin.
21 thereupon the chief priests of the Jews went to Pilate, saying, don't write, "The king of the Jews;" but that he said, I am king of the Jews.
22 Pilate answered, what I have writ, I have writ.
