Mace(i)
all that dwell upon the earth will worship him, whose names are not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the lamb, that was slain.
if any man have an ear, let him hear.
he hath leadeth into captivity, shall be led into captivity: he that killeth with the sword, shall perish by the sword. here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Then I beheld another beast coming out of the earth, it had two horns like a lamb, but it spake like a dragon.
he exercised all the power of the first beast by his authority, and caused the earth, and those who dwell therein, to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
he perform'd great wonders, so as to make fire come down from heaven on the earth, in the sight of men.
and he deceived the inhabitants of the earth, by the prodigys which he had power to effect by the influence of the beast, by telling the inhabitants of the earth, that he had made an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, but yet did revive.
he had power likewise to animate the image made for the beast, so that the image was made to speak, and as many as would not worship the image were order'd to be killed.
he likewise obliged all, both small and great, rich and poor, the freeman and the slave, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: and order'd,
that no body should buy or sell unless he had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
here is wisdom. let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred sixty six.
