She replied, "The head of John the Baptizer." ²⁵ The girl immediately hurried in and said to the King, "I choose to have you give me right now the head of John the Baptizer on a platter." ²⁶ This made the King very sorry, but on account of his oaths and his guests he was unwilling to refuse her.
