11 "'I will increase the number of people and animals that live on you. They will grow and become many. I will let people live on you as in the past, and I will make you better off than ever before. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
12 Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, even my people Israel. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will never again bereave them of their children.”
13 Thus says the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, You land devours up men, and has bereaved your nation of children;
14 therefore you will no more devour men, nor bereave your nation any more, says the Sovereign LORD.
15 Nor will I allow you to hear the shame of the nations any more, nor shall you bear the shame of the peoples any more, nor shall you cause your nations to fall any more, says the Sovereign LORD.
16 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
17 Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
18 And I poured out my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols.
19 I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. I judged them according to their way and according to their deeds.
20 "Wherever they went among the nations, they dishonored my holy name. People said about them: 'These are the LORD's people, yet they had to leave his land.'
21 But I had respect for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.
22 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord, I deal thus with you, not for your sakes, house of Israel, but only for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.
23 I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD,” says the Sovereign LORD, “when I am proven holy in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh:
27 »I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my Laws, and you will obey my rules.
28 You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God.
29 And I will save you from all your uncleannesses; and I will call for the grain, and multiply it, and will not bring famine upon you.
30 "'I will make fruit grow on the trees and crops grow in the fields so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famines.
31 "'Then you will remember your evil ways and the bad things that you did. You will hate yourselves for all these wicked and disgusting things.
32 "'I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake,' proclaims the Sovereign LORD. 'Be ashamed and disgraced because of your ways, people of Israel.'
33 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'On the day that I cleanse you from all your wickedness, I will cause your cities to be lived in again, and your ruins will be rebuilt.
34 And the desolate land shall be tilled, instead of lying desolate in the sight of all that passed by.
35 Then shall they say, This land, that was desolate, is become like the garden of 'Eden; and the cities that were ruined, and desolate, and broken down, are become fortified, and inhabited.
36 Then the nations that are left all aroundyou will know that I, the LORD, have built the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, the LORD, have spoken it and I will do it.
37 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'I will also let the people of Israel ask me to make them as numerous as sheep.
38 As a holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men. And they shall know that I am the LORD.
