VIN(i)
the LORD lays the earth waste, annihilates it, disfigures its surface and scatters its inhabitants.
And it comes to be, as people, so priest, as servant, so his lord, as maid, so her mistress, as buyer, so seller, as borrowee, so borrower, as lender, so him to whom is lent."
The earth will be completely uninhabitable and totally plundered. the LORD has spoken this word.
The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the high people of the earth languish:
The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.
Therefore a curse devours the earth, and the inhabitants in it suffer for their guilt. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth burn, and few men are left.
The new wine dries up; the vine languishes. All the merry of heart sigh;
the joy of the tambourine has stopped. The noise of the jubilant has ceased; the joy of the lyre has stopped.
They no longer drink wine with a song. The beverage is bitter to its drinkers.
The ruined city lies desolate. The entrance to every house is barred and none may enter.
In the streets they cry out for wine. Joy turns to gloom and rejoicing is banished from the earth.
The city is left in ruins; its gate is battered to pieces.
