Williams⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁵² But the Jews kept on wrangling with one another and saying, "How can He give us His flesh to eat?" ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, "I most solemnly say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever continues to eat my flesh and drink my blood already possesses eternal life, and I will raise him to life on the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. ⁵⁶ Whoever continues to eat my flesh and drink my blood continues to live in union with me and I in union with him. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father has sent me and I live because of the Father, so whoever keeps on eating me will live because of me.
