¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand on me, saying: Fear not: I am the first and the last,

² And he was transfigured before them; and his face shone as the sun, and his garments became white as the light. ³ And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. ⁴ And Peter answering said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here. If thou wilt, let us make here three tents; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. ⁵ While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. ⁶ And the disciples, hearing it, fell on their face, and were exceedingly afraid. ⁷ And Jesus coming to them touched them, and said: Arise, and be not afraid.

⁴ and for fear of him the keepers shook, and became as dead men.

⁵ And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe; and they were affrighted. ⁶ And he says to them: Be not affrighted. Ye are seeking Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He is risen; he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.

³⁷ But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they beheld a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them: Why are ye troubled? And wherefore do thoughts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

²³ And there was reclining in Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

²⁰ Peter, turning about, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also at the supper leaned back on his breast, and said: Lord, who is he that betrays thee?

⁸ I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, he who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

¹¹ saying: What thou seest, write in a book, and send to the seven churches; to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamus, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.
