¹⁷ Which forsakes the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God.

¹⁸ Let your fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of your youth.

⁴ Will you not from this time cry to me, My father, you are the guide of my youth?

⁸ Now when I passed by you, and looked on you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, said the Lord GOD, and you became mine.

⁵⁹ For thus said the Lord GOD; I will even deal with you as you have done, which have despised the oath in breaking the covenant. ⁶⁰ Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.

Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And why one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. ¹⁶ For the LORD, the God of Israel, said that he hates putting away: for one covers violence with his garment, said the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that you deal not treacherously.
