²⁷ Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) καλεῖ (invites) ὑμᾶς (you) τῶν (of the) ἀπίστων (unbelieving), καὶ (and) θέλετε (you wish) πορεύεσθαι (to go), πᾶν (everything) τὸ (-) παρατιθέμενον (being set before) ὑμῖν (you) ἐσθίετε (eat), μηδὲν (nothing) ἀνακρίνοντες (inquiring) διὰ (on account of) τὴν (-) συνείδησιν (conscience).

²⁹ Καὶ (And) ἐποίησεν (made) δοχὴν (a banquet) μεγάλην (great) Λευὶς (Levi) αὐτῷ (for Him) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἦν (there was) ὄχλος (a multitude) πολὺς (great) τελωνῶν (of tax collectors) καὶ (and) ἄλλων (others), οἳ (who) ἦσαν (were) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) κατακείμενοι (reclining). ³⁰ καὶ (And) ἐγόγγυζον (were grumbling) οἱ (the) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) αὐτῶν (of them) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) μαθητὰς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), λέγοντες (saying), “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) τελωνῶν (tax collectors) καὶ (and) ἁμαρτωλῶν (sinners) ἐσθίετε (do you eat) καὶ (and) πίνετε (drink)?”

⁷ ἐν (In) αὐτῇ (the same) δὲ (now) τῇ (-) οἰκίᾳ (house) μένετε (remain), ἐσθίοντες* (eating) καὶ (and) πίνοντες (drinking) τὰ (the things supplied) παρ’ (by) αὐτῶν (them); ἄξιος (worthy is) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) ἐργάτης (workman) τοῦ (of the) μισθοῦ (wages) αὐτοῦ (of him). μὴ (Not) μεταβαίνετε (move) ἐξ (from) οἰκίας (house) εἰς (to) οἰκίαν (house). ⁸ Καὶ (And) εἰς (into) ἣν (whatever) ἂν (-) πόλιν (city) εἰσέρχησθε (you might enter), καὶ (and) δέχωνται (they receive) ὑμᾶς (you), ἐσθίετε (eat) τὰ (the things) παρατιθέμενα (set before) ὑμῖν (you).

²³ καὶ (and) φέρετε (having brought) τὸν (the) μόσχον (calf) τὸν (-) σιτευτόν (fattened), θύσατε (kill it), καὶ (and) φαγόντες (having eaten), εὐφρανθῶμεν (let us be merry).

⁷ καὶ (And) ἰδόντες (having seen it), πάντες (all) διεγόγγυζον (were grumbling), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Παρὰ (With) ἁμαρτωλῷ (a sinful) ἀνδρὶ (man) εἰσῆλθεν (He has entered) καταλῦσαι (to stay).”

⁹ Ἔγραψα (I wrote) ὑμῖν (to you) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐπιστολῇ (letter) μὴ (not) συναναμίγνυσθαι (to associate with) πόρνοις (the sexually immoral), ¹⁰ οὐ (not) πάντως (altogether) τοῖς (with the) πόρνοις (sexually immoral) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) τούτου (of this), ἢ (or) τοῖς (with the) πλεονέκταις (covetous) καὶ (and) ἅρπαξιν (swindlers), ἢ (or) εἰδωλολάτραις (idolaters) — ἐπεὶ (since) ὠφείλετε (you would need) ἄρα (then) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) ἐξελθεῖν (to depart). ¹¹ νῦν (Now) δὲ (however), ἔγραψα (I wrote) ὑμῖν (to you) μὴ (not) συναναμίγνυσθαι (to associate with him) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ἀδελφὸς (a brother) ὀνομαζόμενος (being designated), ᾖ (he is) πόρνος (sexually immoral) ἢ (or) πλεονέκτης (a coveter), ἢ (or) εἰδωλολάτρης (an idolater) ἢ (or) λοίδορος (verbal abuser), ἢ (or) μέθυσος (a drunkard), ἢ (or) ἅρπαξ (swindler) — τῷ (with) τοιούτῳ (such a one) μηδὲ (not even) συνεσθίειν (to eat).

²⁵ Πᾶν (Everything) τὸ (-) ἐν (in) μακέλλῳ (the meat market) πωλούμενον (being sold), ἐσθίετε (eat), μηδὲν (nothing) ἀνακρίνοντες (inquiring) διὰ (on account of) τὴν (-) συνείδησιν (conscience),

¹³ οὐ (No) γὰρ (for) ἄλλα (other things) γράφομεν (we write) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀλλ’ (other) ἢ (than) ἃ (what) ἀναγινώσκετε (you read) ἢ (or) καὶ (even) ἐπιγινώσκετε (understand); ἐλπίζω (I hope) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) ἕως (to the) τέλους (end) ἐπιγνώσεσθε (you will understand),

² ἀλλὰ (But) ἀπειπάμεθα (we have renounced) τὰ (the) κρυπτὰ (hidden things) τῆς (-) αἰσχύνης (of shame), μὴ (not) περιπατοῦντες (walking) ἐν (in) πανουργίᾳ (craftiness) μηδὲ (nor) δολοῦντες (falsifying) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀλλὰ (but) τῇ (-) φανερώσει (by manifestation) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) συνιστάνοντες (commending) ἑαυτοὺς (ourselves) πρὸς (to) πᾶσαν (every) συνείδησιν (conscience) ἀνθρώπων (of men) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God).

¹¹ Εἰδότες (Knowing) οὖν (therefore) τὸν (the) φόβον (fear) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), ἀνθρώπους (men) πείθομεν (we persuade) Θεῷ (to God) δὲ (and) πεφανερώμεθα (we have been made manifest); ἐλπίζω (I hope) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συνειδήσεσιν (consciences) ὑμῶν (of you) πεφανερῶσθαι (to have been made manifest).
