²⁸ ὥσπερ (even as) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) οὐκ (not) ἦλθεν (came) διακονηθῆναι (to be served), ἀλλὰ (but) διακονῆσαι (to serve), καὶ (and) δοῦναι (to give) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτοῦ (of Him) λύτρον (as a ransom) ἀντὶ (for) πολλῶν (many).”

²⁸ τοῦτο (This) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) αἷμά (blood) μου (of Me), τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant), τὸ (-) περὶ (for) πολλῶν (many) ἐκχυννόμενον (being poured out) εἰς (for) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins).

²⁹ Τῇ (On the) ἐπαύριον (next day) βλέπει (he sees) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἐρχόμενον (coming) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (him) καὶ (and) λέγει (says), “Ἴδε (Behold) ὁ (the) Ἀμνὸς (Lamb) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (-) αἴρων (taking away) τὴν (the) ἁμαρτίαν (sin) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world).

³⁶ καὶ (And) ἐμβλέψας (having looked at) τῷ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) περιπατοῦντι (walking), λέγει (he says), “Ἴδε (Behold) ὁ (the) Ἀμνὸς (Lamb) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God)!”

³² Ἡ (-) δὲ (Now) περιοχὴ (the passage) τῆς (of the) γραφῆς (Scripture) ἣν (which) ἀνεγίνωσκεν (he was reading) ἦν (was) αὕτη (this): “Ὡς (As) πρόβατον (a sheep) ἐπὶ (to) σφαγὴν (slaughter) ἤχθη (He was led), καὶ (and) ὡς (as) ἀμνὸς (a lamb) ἐναντίον (before) τοῦ (the one) κείραντος* (shearing) αὐτὸν (him) ἄφωνος (is silent), οὕτως (so) οὐκ (not) ἀνοίγει (He opens) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ³³ Ἐν (In) τῇ (the) ταπεινώσει (humiliation) [αὐτοῦ] (of Him), ἡ (-) κρίσις (justice) αὐτοῦ (from Him) ἤρθη (was taken away). τὴν (The) γενεὰν (generation) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τίς (who) διηγήσεται (will describe)? ὅτι (For) αἴρεται (is removed) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ἡ (the) ζωὴ (life) αὐτοῦ (of Him).” ³⁴ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (the) εὐνοῦχος (eunuch) τῷ (-) Φιλίππῳ (to Philip) εἶπεν (said), “Δέομαί (I pray) σου (you), περὶ (concerning) τίνος (whom) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet) λέγει (says) τοῦτο (this)? περὶ (Concerning) ἑαυτοῦ (himself), ἢ (or) περὶ (concerning) ἑτέρου (other) τινός (some)?” ³⁵ Ἀνοίξας (Having opened) δὲ (then) ὁ (-) Φίλιππος (Philip) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him) καὶ (and) ἀρξάμενος (having begun) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) γραφῆς (Scripture) ταύτης (this), εὐηγγελίσατο (he proclaimed the good news) αὐτῷ (to him) — τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus).

²⁸ Προσέχετε (Take heed) ἑαυτοῖς (to yourselves) καὶ (and) παντὶ (to all) τῷ (the) ποιμνίῳ (flock) ἐν (among) ᾧ (which) ὑμᾶς (you) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἔθετο (has set) ἐπισκόπους (overseers), ποιμαίνειν (to shepherd) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἣν (which) περιεποιήσατο (He purchased) διὰ (with) τοῦ (-) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own).

⁷ ἐκκαθάρατε (Cleanse out) τὴν (the) παλαιὰν (old) ζύμην (leaven), ἵνα (that) ἦτε (you may be) νέον (a new) φύραμα (lump), καθώς (as) ἐστε (you are), ἄζυμοι (unleavened). καὶ (Also) γὰρ (for) τὸ (the) πάσχα (Passover lamb) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐτύθη (has been sacrificed), Χριστός (Christ), ⁸ ὥστε (so that) ἑορτάζωμεν (we might celebrate the feast), μὴ (not) ἐν (with) ζύμῃ (leaven) παλαιᾷ (old), μηδὲ (not) ἐν (with) ζύμῃ (leaven) κακίας (of malice) καὶ (and) πονηρίας (wickedness), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (with) ἀζύμοις (unleavened bread) εἰλικρινείας (of sincerity) καὶ (and) ἀληθείας (of truth).

⁷ ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) ἔχομεν (we have) τὴν (-) ἀπολύτρωσιν (redemption) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τὴν (the) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) τῶν (-) παραπτωμάτων (of trespasses), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) πλοῦτος (riches) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

¹⁴ ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) ἔχομεν (we have) τὴν (-) ἀπολύτρωσιν (redemption), τὴν (the) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) τῶν (-) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins).

¹² οὐδὲ (nor) δι’ (by) αἵματος (blood) τράγων (of goats) καὶ (and) μόσχων (calves), διὰ (through) δὲ (however) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own) αἵματος (blood), εἰσῆλθεν (He entered) ἐφάπαξ (once for all) εἰς (into) τὰ (the) ἅγια (holy places), αἰωνίαν (eternal) λύτρωσιν (redemption) εὑράμενος (having obtained). ¹³ Εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τράγων (of goats), καὶ (and) ταύρων (of bulls), καὶ (and) σποδὸς (the ashes) δαμάλεως (of a heifer), ῥαντίζουσα (sprinkling) τοὺς (the) κεκοινωμένους (having been defiled), ἁγιάζει (sanctify them) πρὸς (for) τὴν (the) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) καθαρότητα (purification), ¹⁴ πόσῳ (how much) μᾶλλον (more) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ὃς (who) διὰ (through) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) αἰωνίου (eternal), ἑαυτὸν (Himself) προσήνεγκεν (offered) ἄμωμον (unblemished) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), καθαριεῖ (will purify) τὴν (the) συνείδησιν (conscience) ἡμῶν (of us) ἀπὸ (from) νεκρῶν (dead) ἔργων (works), εἰς (in order) τὸ (-) λατρεύειν (to serve) Θεῷ (God) ζῶντι (the living)!

²² “Ὃς (Who) ἁμαρτίαν (sin) οὐκ (not) ἐποίησεν (committed), οὐδὲ (neither) εὑρέθη (was found) δόλος (trickery) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) στόματι (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him).” ²³ ὃς (Who) λοιδορούμενος (being reviled), οὐκ (not) ἀντελοιδόρει (reviled in return); πάσχων (suffering) οὐκ (not) ἠπείλει (threatened); παρεδίδου (He gave Himself over) δὲ (however) τῷ (to Him) κρίνοντι (judging) δικαίως (justly). ²⁴ ὃς (Who) τὰς (the) ἁμαρτίας (sins) ἡμῶν (of us) αὐτὸς (Himself) ἀνήνεγκεν (bore) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σώματι (body) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree), ἵνα (so that), ταῖς (-) ἁμαρτίαις (to sins) ἀπογενόμενοι (having been dead), τῇ (-) δικαιοσύνῃ (to righteousness) ζήσωμεν (we might live). “Οὗ (By whose) τῷ (-) μώλωπι (wounds) ἰάθητε (you have been healed).”

¹⁸ ὅτι (because) καὶ (also) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἅπαξ (once) περὶ (for) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἔπαθεν* (suffered), δίκαιος (the righteous) ὑπὲρ (for) ἀδίκων (the unrighteous), ἵνα (so that) ὑμᾶς (you) προσαγάγῃ (He might bring) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), θανατωθεὶς (having been put to death) μὲν (indeed) σαρκὶ (in the flesh), ζωοποιηθεὶς (having been made alive) δὲ (however) πνεύματι (in the spirit),

⁷ ἐὰν (If) δὲ (however) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) φωτὶ (light) περιπατῶμεν (we should walk) ὡς (as) αὐτός (He) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) φωτί (light), κοινωνίαν (fellowship) ἔχομεν (we have) μετ’ (with) ἀλλήλων (one another), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus), τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καθαρίζει (cleanses) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) πάσης (all) ἁμαρτίας (sin).

² καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἱλασμός (the propitiation) ἐστιν (is) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us); οὐ (not) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἡμετέρων (of ours) δὲ (and) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) περὶ (for) ὅλου (all) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world).

⁵ καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὁ (the) μάρτυς (witness) ὁ (-) πιστός (faithful), ὁ (the) πρωτότοκος (firstborn) τῶν (of the) νεκρῶν (dead) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἄρχων (ruler) τῶν (of the) βασιλέων (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth). Τῷ (To the One) ἀγαπῶντι (loving) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) λύσαντι (releasing) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐν (through) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him) —

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), Ἀρνίον (a Lamb) ἑστηκὸς (standing) ὡς (as) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), ἔχων (having) κέρατα (horns) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ἑπτά (seven), οἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀπεσταλμένοι (having been sent out) εἰς (into) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).

⁹ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You) λαβεῖν (to take) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), καὶ (and) ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὰς (the) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὅτι (because) ἐσφάγης (You were slain), καὶ (and) ἠγόρασας (You purchased) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματί (blood) σου (of You), ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) καὶ (and) γλώσσης (tongue) καὶ (and) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) ἔθνους (nation),

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) ἑστὸς (was standing) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (-) ὄρος (Mount) Σιών (Zion), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἑκατὸν (one hundred) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) τέσσαρες (four) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἔχουσαι (having) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him) γεγραμμένον (having been written) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them).
