¹¹ ἐκκλινάτω (Let him turn away) δὲ (also) ἀπὸ (from) κακοῦ (evil), καὶ (and) ποιησάτω (let him do) ἀγαθόν (good). ζητησάτω (Let him seek) εἰρήνην (peace) καὶ (and) διωξάτω (let him pursue) αὐτήν (it).

⁹ Μακάριοι (Blessed) οἱ (the) εἰρηνοποιοί (peacemakers), Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) υἱοὶ (sons) Θεοῦ (of God) κληθήσονται (will be called).

⁴⁵ ὅπως (so that) γένησθε (you may be) υἱοὶ (sons) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) τοῦ (who is) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens). ὅτι (For) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἀνατέλλει (He makes rise) ἐπὶ (on) πονηροὺς (evil) καὶ (and) ἀγαθοὺς (good), καὶ (and) βρέχει (He sends rain) ἐπὶ (on) δικαίους (righteous) καὶ (and) ἀδίκους (unrighteous).

¹³ Καὶ (And) μὴ (not) εἰσενέγκῃς (lead) ἡμᾶς (us) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation), Ἀλλὰ (but) ῥῦσαι (deliver) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil).’

⁷ πάντοτε (Always) γὰρ (for) τοὺς (the) πτωχοὺς (poor) ἔχετε (you have) μεθ’ (with) ἑαυτῶν (you), καὶ (and) ὅταν (whenever) θέλητε (you desire) δύνασθε (you are able) αὐτοῖς (them) εὖ (good) ποιῆσαι (to do); ἐμὲ (Me) δὲ (however) οὐ (not) πάντοτε (always) ἔχετε (do you have).

⁷⁹ ἐπιφᾶναι (to shine upon) τοῖς (those) ἐν (in) σκότει (darkness) καὶ (and) σκιᾷ (in the shadow) θανάτου (of death) καθημένοις (sitting); τοῦ (-) κατευθῦναι (to direct) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) ἡμῶν (of us) εἰς (into) ὁδὸν (the way) εἰρήνης (of peace).”

⁹ εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Ἐπερωτῶ (I ask) ὑμᾶς (you), εἰ (whether) ἔξεστιν (it is lawful) τῷ (on the) σαββάτῳ (Sabbath) ἀγαθοποιῆσαι (to do good) ἢ (or) κακοποιῆσαι (to do evil)? ψυχὴν (Life) σῶσαι (to save) ἢ (or) ἀπολέσαι (to destroy)?”

³⁵ Πλὴν (But) ἀγαπᾶτε (love) τοὺς (the) ἐχθροὺς (enemies) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) ἀγαθοποιεῖτε (do good), καὶ (and) δανίζετε (lend), μηδὲν (nothing) ἀπελπίζοντες (expecting in return), καὶ (and) ἔσται (will be) ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) ὑμῶν (of you) πολύς (great), καὶ (and) ἔσεσθε (you will be) υἱοὶ (sons of) Ὑψίστου (the Most High); ὅτι (for) αὐτὸς (He) χρηστός (kind) ἐστιν (is) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) ἀχαρίστους (ungrateful) καὶ (and) πονηρούς (evil).

¹⁵ Οὐκ (Not) ἐρωτῶ (I do ask) ἵνα (that) ἄρῃς (You should take) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) τηρήσῃς (You should keep) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil).

¹ Δικαιωθέντες (Having been justified) οὖν (therefore) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith), εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχομεν* (we have) πρὸς (with) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ),

¹⁹ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ὃ (that) θέλω (I desire) ποιῶ (I do) ἀγαθόν (good), ἀλλὰ (but) ὃ (that) οὐ (not) θέλω (I do want) κακὸν (evil), τοῦτο (this) πράσσω (I practice).

²¹ Εὑρίσκω (I find) ἄρα (so) τὸν (the) νόμον (principle), τῷ (that) θέλοντι (desiring) ἐμοὶ (me) ποιεῖν (to do) τὸ (-) καλὸν (good), ὅτι (that) ἐμοὶ (me) τὸ (-) κακὸν (evil) παράκειται (is present with).

⁶ τὸ (The) γὰρ (for) φρόνημα (mind) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) θάνατος (is death); τὸ (the) δὲ (but) φρόνημα (mind) τοῦ (of the) πνεύματος (Spirit), ζωὴ (life) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace),

¹⁸ εἰ (if) δυνατόν (possible) τὸ (-) ἐξ (of) ὑμῶν (you), μετὰ (with) πάντων (all) ἀνθρώπων (men) εἰρηνεύοντες (living at peace);

¹⁷ οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) βρῶσις (eating) καὶ (and) πόσις (drinking), ἀλλὰ (but) δικαιοσύνη (righteousness) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) καὶ (and) χαρὰ (joy) ἐν (in the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).

¹⁹ Ἄρα (So) οὖν (then), τὰ (the things) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace) διώκωμεν* (we should pursue), καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) τῆς (-) οἰκοδομῆς (for edification) τῆς (-) εἰς (among) ἀλλήλους (each other).

²² Ὁ (-) δὲ (But) καρπὸς (the fruit) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματός (Spirit) ἐστιν (is) ἀγάπη (love), χαρά (joy), εἰρήνη (peace), μακροθυμία (patience), χρηστότης (kindness), ἀγαθωσύνη (goodness), πίστις (faithfulness),

¹⁰ Ἄρα (So) οὖν (then), ὡς (as) καιρὸν (occasion) ἔχομεν* (we have), ἐργαζώμεθα (we should work) τὸ (-) ἀγαθὸν (good) πρὸς (toward) πάντας (all), μάλιστα (especially) δὲ (now) πρὸς (toward) τοὺς (those) οἰκείους (of the household) τῆς (of the) πίστεως (of faith).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) εἰρήνη (peace) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (from Christ) βραβευέτω (let rule) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you), εἰς (to) ἣν (which) καὶ (also) ἐκλήθητε (you were called) ἐν (in) ἑνὶ (one) σώματι (body). καὶ (And) εὐχάριστοι (thankful) γίνεσθε (be).

¹⁸ ἀγαθοεργεῖν (to do good), πλουτεῖν (to be rich) ἐν (in) ἔργοις (works) καλοῖς (good), εὐμεταδότους (generous in distributing) εἶναι (to be), κοινωνικούς (ready to share),

¹⁴ Εἰρήνην (Peace) διώκετε (pursue) μετὰ (with) πάντων (all), καὶ (and) τὸν (-) ἁγιασμόν (holiness), οὗ (which) χωρὶς (without) οὐδεὶς (no one) ὄψεται (will see) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord),

¹⁶ τῆς (-) δὲ (And) εὐποιΐας (the good) καὶ (and) κοινωνίας (of sharing), μὴ (not) ἐπιλανθάνεσθε (be forgetful); τοιαύταις (with such) γὰρ (for) θυσίαις (sacrifices) εὐαρεστεῖται (is well pleased) ὁ (-) Θεός (God).

¹⁷ Ἡ (-) δὲ (But) ἄνωθεν (the from above) σοφία (wisdom) πρῶτον (first) μὲν (indeed) ἁγνή (pure) ἐστιν (is), ἔπειτα (then) εἰρηνική (peaceable), ἐπιεικής (gentle), εὐπειθής (reasonable), μεστὴ (full) ἐλέους (of mercy) καὶ (and) καρπῶν (of fruits) ἀγαθῶν (good), ἀδιάκριτος (impartial), ἀνυπόκριτος (sincere). ¹⁸ καρπὸς (The fruit) δὲ (now) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) ἐν (in) εἰρήνῃ (peace) σπείρεται (is sown) τοῖς (by those) ποιοῦσιν (making) εἰρήνην (peace).

¹⁷ εἰδότι (To him knowing) οὖν (therefore) καλὸν (good) ποιεῖν (to do), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ποιοῦντι (doing), ἁμαρτία (sin) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐστιν (it is).

¹¹ Ἀγαπητέ (Beloved), μὴ (not) μιμοῦ (do imitate) τὸ (what is) κακὸν (evil), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (what is) ἀγαθόν (good). ὁ (The one) ἀγαθοποιῶν (doing good), ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστιν (is); ὁ (the one) κακοποιῶν (doing evil), οὐχ (not) ἑώρακεν (has seen) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God).
