¹⁴ Ταῦτά (These things) σοι (to you) γράφω (I am writing), ἐλπίζων (hoping) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρὸς (to) σὲ (you) ‹ἐν (in) τάχει› (a short time),

³⁴ εἴ (If) τις (anyone) πεινᾷ (is hungry), ἐν (at) οἴκῳ (home) ἐσθιέτω (let him eat), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) εἰς (for) κρίμα (judgment) συνέρχησθε (you might come together). Τὰ (-) δὲ (And) λοιπὰ (the other things), ὡς (as soon as) ἂν (-) ἔλθω (I might come), διατάξομαι (I will set in order).

⁵ Ἐλεύσομαι (I will come) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ὅταν (when) Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia) διέλθω (I shall have gone through); Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia) γὰρ (for) διέρχομαι (I am going through). ⁶ πρὸς (With) ὑμᾶς (you) δὲ (then) τυχὸν (possibly) παραμενῶ* (I will stay), ἢ (or) καὶ (even) παραχειμάσω (I will winter), ἵνα (so that) ὑμεῖς (you) με (me) προπέμψητε (may equip), οὗ (wherever) ἐὰν (if) πορεύωμαι (I may go). ⁷ οὐ (Not) θέλω (I want) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) ἄρτι (now) ἐν (in) παρόδῳ (passing) ἰδεῖν (to see); ἐλπίζω (I hope) γὰρ (indeed) χρόνον (a time) τινὰ (certain) ἐπιμεῖναι (to remain) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you), ἐὰν (if) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) ἐπιτρέψῃ (permits).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ταύτῃ (with this) τῇ (-) πεποιθήσει (confidence) ἐβουλόμην (I was planning) πρότερον (previously) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐλθεῖν (to come), ἵνα (so that) δευτέραν (a second) χάριν (blessing of grace) σχῆτε (you might have), ¹⁶ καὶ (and) δι’ (through) ὑμῶν (you) διελθεῖν (to pass through) εἰς (into) Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia), καὶ (and) πάλιν (again) ἀπὸ (from) Μακεδονίας (Macedonia) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ὑφ’ (by) ὑμῶν (you) προπεμφθῆναι (to be set forward) εἰς (to) τὴν (-) Ἰουδαίαν (Judea). ¹⁷ Τοῦτο (Thus) οὖν (therefore) βουλόμενος (purposing), μήτι (not) ἄρα (then) τῇ (-) ἐλαφρίᾳ (lightness) ἐχρησάμην (did I use)? ἢ (Or) ἃ (what) βουλεύομαι (I purpose), κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) βουλεύομαι (do I purpose), ἵνα (so that) ᾖ (there should be) παρ’ (with) ἐμοὶ (me) τό (-) “Ναί (Yes), ναὶ (yes),” καὶ (and) τὸ (-) “Οὔ (No), οὔ (no)?”?

¹⁸ διότι (Therefore) ἠθελήσαμεν (we wanted) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) — ἐγὼ (I) μὲν (indeed) Παῦλος (Paul), καὶ (both) ἅπαξ (once) καὶ (and) δίς (twice) — καὶ (and) ἐνέκοψεν (hindered) ἡμᾶς (us) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan).

¹³ ἕως (Until) ἔρχομαι (I come), πρόσεχε (give heed) τῇ (to the) ἀναγνώσει (public reading of Scripture), τῇ (to) παρακλήσει (exhortation), τῇ (to) διδασκαλίᾳ (teaching).

²² Ἅμα (At the same time) δὲ (now), καὶ (also) ἑτοίμαζέ (prepare) μοι (for me) ξενίαν (a lodging); ἐλπίζω (I hope) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) διὰ (through) τῶν (the) προσευχῶν (prayers) ὑμῶν (of you), χαρισθήσομαι (I will be granted) ὑμῖν (to you).

²³ Γινώσκετε (You know) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) ἡμῶν (of us) Τιμόθεον (Timothy) ἀπολελυμένον (has been released), μεθ’ (with) οὗ (whom) ἐὰν (if) τάχιον (sooner) ἔρχηται (he should come), ὄψομαι (I will see) ὑμᾶς (you).

¹² Πολλὰ (Many things) ἔχων (having) ὑμῖν (to you) γράφειν (to write), οὐκ (not) ἐβουλήθην (I purposed) διὰ (with) χάρτου (paper) καὶ (and) μέλανος (ink); ἀλλὰ (but) ἐλπίζω (I hope) γενέσθαι (to come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) στόμα (mouth) πρὸς (to) στόμα (mouth) λαλῆσαι (to speak), ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡμῶν (of us) πεπληρωμένη (having been completed) ᾖ (may be).

¹⁴ ἐλπίζω (I hope) δὲ (however) εὐθέως (soon), σε (you) ἰδεῖν (to see), καὶ (and) στόμα (mouth) πρὸς (to) στόμα (mouth) λαλήσομεν (we will speak). Εἰρήνη (Peace) σοι (to you). Ἀσπάζονταί (Greet) σε (you), οἱ (the) φίλοι (friends). Ἀσπάζου (Greet) τοὺς (the) φίλους (friends) κατ’ (by) ὄνομα (name).
