¹ Τὸ (-) λοιπὸν (Finally), προσεύχεσθε (pray), ἀδελφοί (brothers), περὶ (for) ἡμῶν (us), ἵνα (that) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) τρέχῃ (may spread quickly) καὶ (and) δοξάζηται (may be glorified), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you),

³⁸ δεήθητε (Beseech) οὖν (therefore) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) τοῦ (of the) θερισμοῦ (harvest), ὅπως (that) ἐκβάλῃ (He might send out) ἐργάτας (workmen) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) θερισμὸν (harvest) αὐτοῦ (of Him).”

² ἔλεγεν (He was saying) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Ὁ (The) μὲν (indeed) θερισμὸς (harvest is) πολύς (plentiful), οἱ (-) δὲ (but) ἐργάται (the workmen) ὀλίγοι (are few). δεήθητε (Pray earnestly to) οὖν (therefore) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) τοῦ (of the) θερισμοῦ (harvest), ὅπως (that) ἐργάτας (workmen) ἐκβάλῃ (He may send out) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) θερισμὸν (harvest) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ηὔξανεν (continued to increase), καὶ (and) ἐπληθύνετο (was multiplied) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) σφόδρα (exceedingly); πολύς (a great) τε (then) ὄχλος (multitude) τῶν (of the) ἱερέων (priests) ὑπήκουον (were becoming obedient) τῇ (to the) πίστει (faith).

²⁴ Ὁ (-) δὲ (But) λόγος (the word) τοῦ (-) θεοῦ* (of God) ηὔξανεν (continued to grow) καὶ (and) ἐπληθύνετο (to multiply).

⁴⁸ Ἀκούοντα (Hearing it) δὲ (then), τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) ἔχαιρον (were rejoicing) καὶ (and) ἐδόξαζον (glorifying) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), καὶ (and) ἐπίστευσαν (believed) ὅσοι (as many as) ἦσαν (were) τεταγμένοι (appointed) εἰς (to) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal). ⁴⁹ διεφέρετο (Was carried) δὲ (then) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) δι’ (through) ὅλης (all) τῆς (the) χώρας (region).

²⁰ Οὕτως (Thus) κατὰ (with) κράτος (might) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) ηὔξανεν (continued to increase) καὶ (and) ἴσχυεν (prevail).

³⁰ Παρακαλῶ (I exhort) δὲ (now) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) καὶ (and) διὰ (by) τῆς (the) ἀγάπης (love) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit), συναγωνίσασθαί (to strive together with) μοι (me) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) προσευχαῖς (prayers) ὑπὲρ (for) ἐμοῦ (me) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God),

⁹ θύρα (A door) γάρ (for) μοι (to me) ἀνέῳγεν (has opened) μεγάλη (great) καὶ (and) ἐνεργής (productive), καὶ (and) ἀντικείμενοι (are opposing) πολλοί (many).

¹¹ συνυπουργούντων (joining together) καὶ (also) ὑμῶν (of you) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us) τῇ (by) δεήσει (supplication), ἵνα (so that) ἐκ (by) πολλῶν (many) προσώπων (persons), τὸ (for the) εἰς (toward) ἡμᾶς (us) χάρισμα (grace bestowed), διὰ (through) πολλῶν (many), εὐχαριστηθῇ (thanks may be given) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us).

¹⁹ καὶ (and also) ὑπὲρ (for) ἐμοῦ (me), ἵνα (that) μοι (to me) δοθῇ (may be given) λόγος (divine utterance) ἐν (in) ἀνοίξει (the opening) τοῦ (of the) στόματός (mouth) μου (of me), ἐν (with) παρρησίᾳ (boldness) γνωρίσαι (to make known) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel), ²⁰ ὑπὲρ (for) οὗ (which) πρεσβεύω (I am an ambassador) ἐν (in) ἁλύσει (a chain), ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it) παρρησιάσωμαι (I may be bold), ὡς (as) δεῖ (it behooves) με (me) λαλῆσαι (to speak).

³ προσευχόμενοι (praying) ἅμα (at the same time) καὶ (also) περὶ (for) ἡμῶν (us), ἵνα (that) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀνοίξῃ (may open) ἡμῖν (to us) θύραν (a door) τοῦ (for the) λόγου (word), λαλῆσαι (to declare) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), δι’ (on account of) ὃ (which) καὶ (also) δέδεμαι (I have been bound),

⁵ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) ἡμῶν (of us) οὐκ (not) ἐγενήθη (came) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) λόγῳ (word) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (power) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy), καὶ (and) [ἐν] (with) πληροφορίᾳ (full assurance) πολλῇ (much), καθὼς (just as) οἴδατε (you know) οἷοι (what) ἐγενήθημεν (we were) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) δι’ (on account of) ὑμᾶς (you).

⁸ ἀφ’ (From) ὑμῶν (you) γὰρ (for) ἐξήχηται (has sounded forth) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), οὐ (not) μόνον (only) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Μακεδονίᾳ (Macedonia) καὶ (and) [ἐν (in) τῇ] (-) Ἀχαΐᾳ (Achaia), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) τόπῳ (place) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (-) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐξελήλυθεν (has gone abroad), ὥστε (so as for) μὴ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχειν (to have) ἡμᾶς (us) λαλεῖν (to say) τι (anything).

¹ Αὐτοὶ (You yourselves) γὰρ (for) οἴδατε (know), ἀδελφοί (brothers), τὴν (the) εἴσοδον (coming) ἡμῶν (of us) τὴν (-) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) κενὴ (in vain) γέγονεν (has been);

¹³ Καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this) καὶ (also), ἡμεῖς (we) εὐχαριστοῦμεν (give thanks) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἀδιαλείπτως (unceasingly) ὅτι (that), παραλαβόντες (having received) λόγον (the word) ἀκοῆς (by your hearing) παρ’ (from) ἡμῶν (us) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἐδέξασθε (you accepted) οὐ (not) λόγον (the word) ἀνθρώπων (of men), ἀλλὰ (but) καθὼς (even as) ἀληθῶς (truly) ἐστὶν (it is), λόγον (the word) Θεοῦ (of God), ὃς (which) καὶ (also) ἐνεργεῖται (works) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) τοῖς (who) πιστεύουσιν (believe).

¹ Λοιπὸν (Finally) οὖν (then), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ἐρωτῶμεν (we implore) ὑμᾶς (you) καὶ (and) παρακαλοῦμεν (exhort) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἵνα (that), καθὼς (just as) παρελάβετε (you have received) παρ’ (from) ἡμῶν (us) τὸ (-) πῶς (in what manner) δεῖ (it behooves) ὑμᾶς (you) περιπατεῖν (to walk) καὶ (and) ἀρέσκειν (to please) Θεῷ (God), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (even) περιπατεῖτε (you walk now), ἵνα (so) περισσεύητε (you should abound) μᾶλλον (more).

¹⁷ ἀδιαλείπτως (Unceasingly) προσεύχεσθε (pray).

²⁵ Ἀδελφοί (Brothers), προσεύχεσθε (pray) [καὶ] (also) περὶ (for) ἡμῶν (us).

⁹ ἐν (in) ᾧ (which) κακοπαθῶ (I suffer hardship), μέχρι (even to) δεσμῶν (chains) ὡς (as) κακοῦργος (an evildoer). ἀλλὰ (But) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) οὐ (not) δέδεται (is bound)!

¹⁸ Προσεύχεσθε (Pray) περὶ (for) ἡμῶν (us); πειθόμεθα (we are persuaded) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) καλὴν (a good) συνείδησιν (conscience) ἔχομεν (we have), ἐν (in) πᾶσιν (all things) καλῶς (well) θέλοντες (desiring) ἀναστρέφεσθαι (to conduct ourselves). ¹⁹ περισσοτέρως (More abundantly) δὲ (now) παρακαλῶ (I exhort you) τοῦτο (this) ποιῆσαι (to do), ἵνα (so that) τάχιον (more quickly) ἀποκατασταθῶ (I may be restored) ὑμῖν (to you).
