¹⁰ καὶ (Even) γὰρ (for) ὅτε (when) ἦμεν (we were) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you), τοῦτο (this) παρηγγέλλομεν (we were commanding) ὑμῖν (you), ὅτι (that) “Εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐ (not) θέλει (is willing) ἐργάζεσθαι (to work), μηδὲ (neither) ἐσθιέτω (let him eat).”

⁴⁴ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (now) πρὸς (unto) αὐτούς (to them), “Οὗτοι (These are) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) μου (of me), οὓς (which) ἐλάλησα (I spoke) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἔτι (still) ὢν (being) σὺν (with) ὑμῖν (you), ὅτι (that) δεῖ (it behooves) πληρωθῆναι (to be fulfilled) πάντα (all things) τὰ (-) γεγραμμένα (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νόμῳ (law) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), καὶ (and) τοῖς (the) προφήταις (Prophets) καὶ (and) ψαλμοῖς (the Psalms) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me).”

⁴ ἀλλὰ (But) ταῦτα (these things) λελάληκα (I have said) ὑμῖν (to you), ἵνα (so that) ὅταν (when) ἔλθῃ (might have come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) αὐτῶν (of them), μνημονεύητε (you may remember) αὐτῶν (them), ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I) εἶπον (said them) ὑμῖν (to you). ταῦτα (These things) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (to you) ἐξ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning) οὐκ (not) εἶπον (I said), ὅτι (because) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) ἤμην (I was).

¹⁸ Ὡς (When) δὲ (then) παρεγένοντο (they had come) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him), εἶπεν (he said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐπίστασθε (know) ἀπὸ (from) πρώτης (the first) ἡμέρας (day) ἀφ’ (on) ἧς (which) ἐπέβην (I arrived) εἰς (in) τὴν (-) Ἀσίαν (Asia), πῶς (how) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) τὸν (the) πάντα (whole) χρόνον (time) ἐγενόμην (I was),

⁴ καὶ (And) γὰρ (indeed), ὅτε (when) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you) ἦμεν (we were), προελέγομεν (we were telling beforehand) ὑμῖν (you) ὅτι (that) μέλλομεν (we are about) θλίβεσθαι (to suffer affliction), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) ἐγένετο (it came to pass), καὶ (and) οἴδατε (you know).

¹¹ καὶ (and) φιλοτιμεῖσθαι (to strive earnestly) ἡσυχάζειν (to live quietly) καὶ (and) πράσσειν (to attend to) τὰ (the) ἴδια (own), καὶ (and) ἐργάζεσθαι (to work with) ταῖς (the) [ἰδίαις] (own) χερσὶν (hands) ὑμῶν (of you), καθὼς (just as) ὑμῖν (you) παρηγγείλαμεν (we commanded),
