²⁴ Μετὰ (After) δὲ (then) ἡμέρας (days) τινὰς (some), παραγενόμενος (having arrived) ὁ (-) Φῆλιξ (Felix) σὺν (with) Δρουσίλλῃ (Drusilla), τῇ (the) ἰδίᾳ (own) γυναικὶ (wife), οὔσῃ (being) Ἰουδαίᾳ (a Jewess), μετεπέμψατο (he sent for) τὸν (-) Παῦλον (Paul) καὶ (and) ἤκουσεν (heard) αὐτοῦ (him) περὶ (concerning) τῆς (the) εἰς (in) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) πίστεως (faith).

²⁰ ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) Ἡρῴδης (Herod) ἐφοβεῖτο (was afraid of) τὸν (-) Ἰωάννην (John), εἰδὼς (knowing) αὐτὸν (him) ἄνδρα (to be a man) δίκαιον (righteous) καὶ (and) ἅγιον (holy); καὶ (and) συνετήρει (he kept safe) αὐτόν (him). καὶ (And) ἀκούσας (having heard) αὐτοῦ (him), πολλὰ (greatly) ἠπόρει (he was perplexed) καὶ (and) ἡδέως (gladly) αὐτοῦ (him) ἤκουεν (heard).

³ καὶ (And) ἐζήτει (he was seeking) ἰδεῖν (to see) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), τίς (who) ἐστιν (He is), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠδύνατο (he was able) ἀπὸ (because of) τοῦ (the) ὄχλου (crowd), ὅτι (because) τῇ (-) ἡλικίᾳ (in stature) μικρὸς (small) ἦν (he was).

⁸ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἡρῴδης (Herod), ἰδὼν (having seen) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), ἐχάρη (was glad) λίαν (exceedingly); ἦν (he was) γὰρ (for) ἐξ (of) ἱκανῶν (a long) χρόνων (time) θέλων (wishing) ἰδεῖν (to see) αὐτὸν (Him), διὰ (because of) τὸ (-) ἀκούειν (hearing) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ (Him); καὶ (and) ἤλπιζέν (he was hoping) τι (some) σημεῖον (sign) ἰδεῖν (to see) ὑπ’ (by) αὐτοῦ (Him) γινόμενον (done).

³¹ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said), “Πίστευσον (Believe) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), καὶ (and) σωθήσῃ (you will be saved), σὺ (you) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) οἶκός (household) σου (of you).”

²¹ διαμαρτυρόμενος (earnestly testifying) Ἰουδαίοις (to the Jewish) τε (both) καὶ (and) Ἕλλησιν (to Greeks), τὴν (-) εἰς (in) Θεὸν (God) μετάνοιαν (repentance) καὶ (and) πίστιν (faith) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus).

²² Ἐπικουρίας (Help) οὖν (therefore) τυχὼν (having obtained) τῆς (-) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἄχρι (unto) τῆς (the) ἡμέρας (day) ταύτης (this), ἕστηκα (I have stood), μαρτυρόμενος (bearing witness) μικρῷ (to small) τε (both) καὶ (and) μεγάλῳ (to great), οὐδὲν (nothing) ἐκτὸς (other) λέγων (saying) ὧν (than what) τε (both) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets) ἐλάλησαν (said) μελλόντων (was about) γίνεσθαι (to happen), καὶ (and) Μωϋσῆς (Moses),

¹⁶ εἰδότες (knowing) δὲ (nevertheless) ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) δικαιοῦται (is justified) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of law), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (from Jesus); καὶ (even) ἡμεῖς (we) εἰς (in) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἐπιστεύσαμεν (have believed), ἵνα (that) δικαιωθῶμεν (we may be justified) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith) Χριστοῦ (from Christ), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law); ὅτι (because) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law) οὐ (not) δικαιωθήσεται (will be justified) πᾶσα (any) σάρξ (flesh).

²⁰ Χριστῷ (Christ) συνεσταύρωμαι (I have been crucified with); ζῶ (I live) δὲ (now), οὐκέτι (no longer) ἐγώ (I); ζῇ (lives) δὲ (however) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (me) Χριστός (Christ); ὃ (that which) δὲ (then) νῦν (now) ζῶ (I live) ἐν (in) σαρκί (the flesh), ἐν (through) πίστει (faith) ζῶ (I live), τῇ (that) τοῦ (from the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ἀγαπήσαντός (having loved) με (me) καὶ (and) παραδόντος (having given up) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) ὑπὲρ (for) ἐμοῦ (me).

² τοῦτο (This) μόνον (only) θέλω (I wish) μαθεῖν (to learn) ἀφ’ (from) ὑμῶν (you), ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἐλάβετε (did you receive), ἢ (or) ἐξ (by) ἀκοῆς (hearing) πίστεως (of faith)?

¹ Πᾶς (Everyone) ὁ (-) πιστεύων (believing) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) γεγέννηται (has been born), καὶ (and) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ἀγαπῶν (loving) τὸν (the One) γεννήσαντα (having begotten Him), ἀγαπᾷ (loves) ‹καὶ› (also) τὸν (the one) γεγεννημένον (having been begotten) ἐξ (from) αὐτοῦ (Him).

³ Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), πᾶσαν (all) σπουδὴν (diligence) ποιούμενος (using) γράφειν (to write) ὑμῖν (to you) περὶ (concerning) τῆς (-) κοινῆς (common) ἡμῶν (of us) σωτηρίας (salvation), ἀνάγκην (necessity) ἔσχον (I had) γράψαι (to write) ὑμῖν (to you), παρακαλῶν (exhorting you) ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι (to contend earnestly) τῇ (for the) ἅπαξ (once for all) παραδοθείσῃ (having been delivered) τοῖς (to the) ἁγίοις (saints) πίστει (faith).
