³ Καὶ (And) προσελθὼν (having come) ὁ (the) πειράζων (one tempting), εἶπεν (he said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Εἰ (If) Υἱὸς (Son) εἶ (You are) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), εἰπὲ (speak), ἵνα (that) οἱ (the) λίθοι (stones) οὗτοι (these), ἄρτοι (loaves of bread) γένωνται (might become).”

⁶ καὶ (and) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Εἰ (If) Υἱὸς (Son) εἶ (You are) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), βάλε (throw) σεαυτὸν (Yourself) κάτω (down); γέγραπται (it has been written) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (-): ‘Τοῖς (To the) ἀγγέλοις (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐντελεῖται (He will give orders) περὶ (concerning) σοῦ (You), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (in) χειρῶν (their hands) ἀροῦσίν (will they bear up) σε (You), μή‿ (lest) ποτε (ever) προσκόψῃς (You strike) πρὸς (against) λίθον (a stone) τὸν (the) πόδα (foot) σου (of You).’”

²⁹ Καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἔκραξαν (they cried out), λέγοντες (saying), “Τί (What) ἡμῖν (to us) καὶ (and) σοί (to you), Υἱὲ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God)? ἦλθες (Are You come) ὧδε (here) πρὸ (before the) καιροῦ (time) βασανίσαι (to torment) ἡμᾶς (us)?”

²⁷ Πάντα (All things) μοι (to Me) παρεδόθη (have been delivered) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me). καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐπιγινώσκει (knows) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father); οὐδὲ (nor) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) τις (anyone) ἐπιγινώσκει (does know), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son), καὶ (and) ᾧ (to whom) ἐὰν (if) βούληται (might choose) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) ἀποκαλύψαι (to reveal Him).

¹⁶ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter) εἶπεν (said), “Σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God) τοῦ (the) ζῶντος (living).”

⁵ Ἔτι (While yet) αὐτοῦ (he) λαλοῦντος (was speaking), ἰδοὺ (behold), νεφέλη (a cloud) φωτεινὴ (bright) ἐπεσκίασεν (overshadowed) αὐτούς (them); καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), φωνὴ (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) νεφέλης (cloud), λέγουσα (saying), “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Υἱός (Son) μου (of Me), ὁ (the) ἀγαπητός (beloved), ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) εὐδόκησα (I am well pleased). ἀκούετε (Listen) αὐτοῦ (to Him)!”

⁶³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐσιώπα (was silent). Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἀρχιερεὺς (high priest) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ἐξορκίζω (I adjure) σε (you) κατὰ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) τοῦ (the) ζῶντος (living), ἵνα (that) ἡμῖν (us) εἴπῃς (You tell) εἰ (if) σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).”

⁴⁰ καὶ (and) λέγοντες (saying), “Ὁ (The One) καταλύων (destroying) τὸν (the) ναὸν (temple) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τρισὶν (three) ἡμέραις (days) οἰκοδομῶν (building it), σῶσον (save) σεαυτόν (Yourself)! εἰ (If) Υἱὸς (the Son) εἶ (You are) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (also) κατάβηθι (descend) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) σταυροῦ (cross)!”

⁴³ πέποιθεν (He trusted) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God). ῥυσάσθω (Let Him deliver) νῦν (now) εἰ (if) θέλει (He wants) αὐτόν (Him). εἶπεν (He said) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (-), ‘Θεοῦ (Of God) εἰμι (I am) Υἱός (the Son).’”

⁵⁴ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἑκατόνταρχος (the centurion) καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) τηροῦντες (keeping guard over) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), ἰδόντες (having seen) τὸν (the) σεισμὸν (earthquake) καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) γενόμενα* (taking place), ἐφοβήθησαν (feared) σφόδρα (greatly), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἀληθῶς (Truly) Θεοῦ (God’s) Υἱὸς (Son) ἦν (was) οὗτος (this).”

¹¹ καὶ (And) φωνὴ (a voice) ἐγένετο (came) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the) οὐρανῶν (heavens): “Σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Υἱός (Son) μου (of Me), ὁ (the) ἀγαπητός (beloved), ἐν (in) σοὶ (You) εὐδόκησα (I am well pleased).”

³⁵ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἐπελεύσεται (will come) ἐπὶ (upon) σέ (you), καὶ (and) δύναμις (power) Ὑψίστου (of the Most High) ἐπισκιάσει (will overshadow) σοι (you); διὸ (therefore) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) γεννώμενον (being born) ἅγιον (Holy One) κληθήσεται (will be called) Υἱὸς (the Son) Θεοῦ (of God).

²² καὶ (and) καταβῆναι (descended) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) σωματικῷ (in a bodily) εἴδει (form) ὡς (as) περιστερὰν (a dove) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτόν (Him), καὶ (and) φωνὴν (a voice) ἐξ (out of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) γενέσθαι (came): “Σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Υἱός (Son) μου (of Me), ὁ (the) ἀγαπητός (beloved); ἐν (in) σοὶ (You) εὐδόκησα (I am well pleased).”

¹⁸ Θεὸν (God) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἑώρακεν (has seen) πώποτε (ever yet); μονογενὴς (the only begotten) Θεὸς (God), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) κόλπον (bosom) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father), ἐκεῖνος (He) ἐξηγήσατο (has made Him known).

⁴⁹ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) αὐτῷ (Him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Ῥαββί (Rabbi), σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); σὺ (You) Βασιλεὺς (King) εἶ (are) τοῦ (-) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel).”

¹⁶ Οὕτως (Thus) γὰρ (for) ἠγάπησεν (loved) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), ὥστε (that) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), τὸν (the) μονογενῆ (only begotten), ἔδωκεν (He gave), ἵνα (so that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) αὐτὸν (Him) μὴ (not) ἀπόληται (should perish), ἀλλ’ (but) ἔχῃ (should have) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal). ¹⁷ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ἀπέστειλεν (sent) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸν (-) Υἱὸν (His Son) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἵνα (that) κρίνῃ (He might judge) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) σωθῇ (might be saved) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him). ¹⁸ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (on) αὐτὸν (Him) οὐ (not) κρίνεται (is judged); ὁ (the one) ‹δὲ› (but) μὴ (not) πιστεύων (believing) ἤδη (already) κέκριται (has been judged), ὅτι (because) μὴ (not) πεπίστευκεν (he has believed) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) μονογενοῦς (only begotten) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

³⁵ Ὁ (The) Πατὴρ (Father) ἀγαπᾷ (loves) τὸν (the) Υἱόν (Son), καὶ (and) πάντα (all things) δέδωκεν (has given) ἐν (into) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ³⁶ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) ἔχει (has) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ἀπειθῶν (not obeying) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son), οὐκ (not) ὄψεται (will see) ζωήν (life), ἀλλ’ (but) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μένει (abides) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτόν (him).”

²³ ἵνα (so that) πάντες (all) τιμῶσι (may honor) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), καθὼς (even as) τιμῶσι (they honor) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father). ὁ (He who) μὴ (not) τιμῶν (is honoring) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), οὐ (not) τιμᾷ (is honoring) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), τὸν (the One) πέμψαντα (having sent) αὐτόν (Him). ²⁴ Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the one) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μου (of Me) ἀκούων (hearing), καὶ (and) πιστεύων (believing) τῷ (the One) πέμψαντί (having sent) με (Me), ἔχει (he has) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal) καὶ (and) εἰς (into) κρίσιν (judgment) οὐκ (not) ἔρχεται (comes), ἀλλὰ (but) μεταβέβηκεν (has passed) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (death) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) ζωήν (life). ²⁵ Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ἔρχεται (is coming) ὥρα (an hour), καὶ (and) νῦν (now) ἐστιν (is), ὅτε (when) οἱ (the) νεκροὶ (dead) ἀκούσουσιν (will hear) τῆς (the) φωνῆς (voice) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἀκούσαντες (having heard) ζήσουσιν (will live). ²⁶ ὥσπερ (As) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἔχει (has) ζωὴν (life) ἐν (in) ἑαυτῷ (Himself), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) τῷ (to the) Υἱῷ (Son) ἔδωκεν (He gave) ζωὴν (life), ἔχειν (to have) ἐν (in) ἑαυτῷ (Himself). ²⁷ καὶ (And) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἔδωκεν (He gave) αὐτῷ (Him) κρίσιν (judgment) ποιεῖν (to execute), ὅτι (because) Υἱὸς (Son) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐστίν (He is).

⁶⁹ καὶ (and) ἡμεῖς (we) πεπιστεύκαμεν (have believed) καὶ (and) ἐγνώκαμεν (have known) ὅτι (that) σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Ἅγιος (Holy One) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).”

³⁰ ἐγὼ (I) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἕν (one) ἐσμεν (are).”

³⁶ ὃν (of Him whom) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἡγίασεν (sanctified) καὶ (and) ἀπέστειλεν (sent) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), ὑμεῖς (you) λέγετε (do say) ὅτι (-), ‘Βλασφημεῖς (You blaspheme),’ ὅτι (because) εἶπον (I said), ‘Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰμι (I am)’?

²⁷ Λέγει (She says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord); ἐγὼ (I) πεπίστευκα (have believed) ὅτι (that) σὺ (You) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (the One) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἐρχόμενος (coming).”

⁷ Ἀπεκρίθησαν (Answered) αὐτῷ (him) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews), “Ἡμεῖς (We) νόμον (a law) ἔχομεν (have), καὶ (and) κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) νόμον (law), ὀφείλει (He ought) ἀποθανεῖν (to die), ὅτι (because) Υἱὸν (the Son) Θεοῦ (of God) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) ἐποίησεν (He made).”

²⁸ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Θωμᾶς (Thomas) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ὁ (The) Κύριός (Lord) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Θεός (God) μου (of me)!”

³¹ ταῦτα (these) δὲ (however) γέγραπται (have been written) ἵνα (that) πιστεύητε (you may believe) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) πιστεύοντες (believing), ζωὴν (life) ἔχητε (you may have) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁴ τοῦ (-) ὁρισθέντος (having been declared) Υἱοῦ (Son) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (power) κατὰ (according to the) πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἁγιωσύνης (of holiness) ἐξ (by) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) νεκρῶν (from the dead), Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us);

¹⁹ ὁ (The) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) γὰρ (for) Υἱὸς (Son), Χριστὸς (Christ) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the One) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) δι’ (by) ἡμῶν (us) κηρυχθείς (having been proclaimed) δι’ (by) ἐμοῦ (me) καὶ (and) Σιλουανοῦ (Silvanus) καὶ (and) Τιμοθέου (Timothy), οὐκ (not) ἐγένετο (was) “Ναί (Yes)” καὶ (and) “Οὔ (No),” ἀλλὰ (but) “Ναί (Yes)” ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) γέγονεν (it has always been).

¹ Πολυμερῶς (In many portions) καὶ (and) πολυτρόπως (in many ways), πάλαι (long ago) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) λαλήσας (having spoken) τοῖς (to the) πατράσιν (fathers) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets), ² ἐπ’ (in) ἐσχάτου (last) τῶν (-) ἡμερῶν (days) τούτων (these) ἐλάλησεν (has spoken) ἡμῖν (to us) ἐν (in) Υἱῷ (His Son), ὃν (whom) ἔθηκεν (He appointed) κληρονόμον (heir) πάντων (of all things), δι’ (through) οὗ (whom) καὶ (also) ἐποίησεν (He made) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages),

⁵ Τίνι (To which) γὰρ (for) εἶπέν (did He say) ποτε (ever) τῶν (of the) ἀγγέλων (angels): “Υἱός (Son) μου (of me) εἶ (are) σύ (You); ἐγὼ (I) σήμερον (today) γεγέννηκά (have begotten) σε (You)?”? Καὶ (And) πάλιν (again): “Ἐγὼ (I) ἔσομαι (will be) αὐτῷ (to Him) εἰς (for) Πατέρα (a Father), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ἔσται (will be) μοι (to Me) εἰς (for) Υἱόν (a Son)?”? ⁶ Ὅταν (When) δὲ (then) πάλιν (again) εἰσαγάγῃ (He brings) τὸν (the) πρωτότοκον (Firstborn) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world), λέγει (He says): “Καὶ (And) προσκυνησάτωσαν (let worship) αὐτῷ (Him) πάντες (all) ἄγγελοι (the angels) Θεοῦ (of God).”

³ ἀπάτωρ (Without father), ἀμήτωρ (without mother), ἀγενεαλόγητος (without genealogy), μήτε (neither) ἀρχὴν (beginning) ἡμερῶν (of days) μήτε (nor) ζωῆς (of life) τέλος (end) ἔχων (having), ἀφωμοιωμένος (having been made like) δὲ (however) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), μένει (he remains) ἱερεὺς (a priest) εἰς (unto) τὸ (-) διηνεκές (all time).

²³ πᾶς (Everyone) ὁ (-) ἀρνούμενος (denying) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), οὐδὲ (neither) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) ἔχει (has he). ὁ (The one) ὁμολογῶν (confessing) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), καὶ (also) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) ἔχει (has).

⁸ ὁ (The one) ποιῶν (practicing) τὴν (-) ἁμαρτίαν (sin), ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) διαβόλου (devil) ἐστίν (is), ὅτι (because) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) ἁμαρτάνει (has been sinning). εἰς (For) τοῦτο (this reason) ἐφανερώθη (was revealed) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) λύσῃ (He might destroy) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil).

⁹ Ἐν (In) τούτῳ (this) ἐφανερώθη (has been revealed) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (among) ἡμῖν (us), ὅτι (that) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τὸν (the) μονογενῆ (one and only), ἀπέσταλκεν (has sent) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), ἵνα (so that) ζήσωμεν (we might live) δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him).

¹⁴ καὶ (And) ἡμεῖς (we) τεθεάμεθα (have seen) καὶ (and) μαρτυροῦμεν (testify) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἀπέσταλκεν (has sent) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son as) Σωτῆρα (Savior) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world). ¹⁵ Ὃς (Whoever) ἐὰν (if) ὁμολογήσῃ (shall confess) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him) μένει (abides), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (he) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God).

⁹ Εἰ (If) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men) λαμβάνομεν (we receive), ἡ (the) μαρτυρία (testimony) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μείζων (greater) ἐστίν (is). ὅτι (For) αὕτη (this) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) μαρτυρία (testimony) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὅτι (that) μεμαρτύρηκεν (He has testified) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ¹⁰ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἐν (in) αὑτῷ (himself). ὁ (The one) μὴ (not) πιστεύων (believing) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ψεύστην (a liar) πεποίηκεν (has made) αὐτόν (Him), ὅτι (because) οὐ (not) πεπίστευκεν (he has believed) εἰς (in) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἣν (that) μεμαρτύρηκεν (has testified) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (Him). ¹¹ Καὶ (And) αὕτη (this) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) μαρτυρία (testimony), ὅτι (that) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal) ἔδωκεν (has given) «ὁ (-) Θεὸς» (God) ἡμῖν (to us), καὶ (and) αὕτη (this) ἡ (the) ζωὴ (life) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son) αὐτοῦ (His) ἐστιν (is). ¹² ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) ἔχει (has) τὴν (-) ζωήν (life); ὁ (the one) μὴ (not) ἔχων (having) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τὴν (-) ζωὴν (life) οὐκ (not) ἔχει (has). ¹³ Ταῦτα (These things) ἔγραψα (have I written) ὑμῖν (to you) ἵνα (so that) εἰδῆτε (you may know) ὅτι (that) ζωὴν (life) ἔχετε (you have) αἰώνιον (eternal), τοῖς (to those) πιστεύουσιν (believing) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

²⁰ οἴδαμεν (We know) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἥκει (is come), καὶ (and) δέδωκεν (has given) ἡμῖν (us) διάνοιαν (understanding), ἵνα (so that) γινώσκωμεν* (we may know) τὸν (Him who is) ἀληθινόν (true); καὶ (and) ἐσμὲν (we are) ἐν (in) τῷ (Him who is) ἀληθινῷ (true), ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστῷ (Christ). οὗτός (He) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἀληθινὸς (true) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (and) ζωὴ (life) αἰώνιος (eternal).

⁹ πᾶς (Anyone) ὁ (-) προάγων (going on ahead) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) μένων (abiding) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), Θεὸν (God) οὐκ (not) ἔχει (has). ὁ (The one) μένων (abiding) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching), οὗτος (this one) καὶ (both) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) καὶ (and) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) ἔχει (has).

¹⁸ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to) ἀγγέλῳ (the messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Θυατείροις (Thyatira) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (the One) ἔχων (having) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (like) φλόγα (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅμοιοι (like) χαλκολιβάνῳ (burnished bronze).
