¹ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ὅτε (when) ἐτέλεσεν (had finished) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) διατάσσων (commanding) τοῖς (the) δώδεκα (twelve) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), μετέβη (He departed) ἐκεῖθεν (from there) τοῦ (-) διδάσκειν (to teach) καὶ (and) κηρύσσειν (to preach) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) πόλεσιν (cities) αὐτῶν (of them).

²³ Καὶ (And) περιῆγεν (He was going) ἐν (throughout) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (-) Γαλιλαίᾳ (Galilee), διδάσκων (teaching) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) κηρύσσων (proclaiming) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom), καὶ (and) θεραπεύων (healing) πᾶσαν (every) νόσον (disease) καὶ (and) πᾶσαν (every) μαλακίαν (sickness) ἐν (among) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people).

²⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass), ὅτε (when) ἐτέλεσεν (had finished) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), ἐξεπλήσσοντο (were astonished) οἱ (the) ὄχλοι (crowds) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

³⁵ Καὶ (And) περιῆγεν (was going throughout) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τὰς (the) πόλεις (cities) πάσας (all) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) κώμας (villages), διδάσκων (teaching) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) κηρύσσων (proclaiming) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom), καὶ (and) θεραπεύων (healing) πᾶσαν (every) νόσον (disease) καὶ (and) πᾶσαν (every) μαλακίαν (sickness).

²⁰ διδάσκοντες (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) τηρεῖν (to observe) πάντα (all things), ὅσα (whatever) ἐνετειλάμην (I commanded) ὑμῖν (you). καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐγὼ (I) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) εἰμι (am) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) ἡμέρας (days), ἕως (until) τῆς (the) συντελείας (completion) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age).”

³⁸ Καὶ (And) λέγει (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἄγωμεν (Let us go) ἀλλαχοῦ (another way) εἰς (into) τὰς (the) ἐχομένας (neighboring) κωμοπόλεις (towns), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) ἐκεῖ (there) κηρύξω (I might preach); εἰς (for) τοῦτο (this) γὰρ (therefore) ἐξῆλθον (have I come forth).” ³⁹ καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (He was going), κηρύσσων (preaching) εἰς (in) τὰς (the) συναγωγὰς (synagogues) αὐτῶν (of them), εἰς (in) ὅλην (all) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee), καὶ (and) τὰ (-) δαιμόνια (demons) ἐκβάλλων (casting out).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἐδίδασκεν (was teaching) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) αὐτῶν (of them), δοξαζόμενος (being glorified) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all). ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (He came) εἰς (to) Ναζαρά (Nazareth), οὗ (where) ἦν (He had been) τεθραμμένος (brought up); καὶ (and) εἰσῆλθεν (He entered) κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) εἰωθὸς (custom) αὐτῷ (to Him), ἐν (on) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) τῶν (of the) σαββάτων (Sabbaths), εἰς (into) τὴν (the) συναγωγήν (synagogue), καὶ (and) ἀνέστη (stood up) ἀναγνῶναι (to read). ¹⁷ καὶ (And) ἐπεδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to Him) βιβλίον (the scroll of) τοῦ (the) προφήτου (prophet) Ἠσαΐου (Isaiah), καὶ (and) ἀναπτύξας* (having unrolled) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), εὗρεν (He found) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) οὗ (where) ἦν (it was) γεγραμμένον (written): ¹⁸ “Πνεῦμα (The Spirit) Κυρίου (of the Lord is) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμέ (Me), Οὗ (of which) εἵνεκεν (because) ἔχρισέν (He has anointed) με (Me) Εὐαγγελίσασθαι (to preach good news) πτωχοῖς (to the poor). Ἀπέσταλκέν (He has sent) με (Me) κηρῦξαι (to proclaim) αἰχμαλώτοις (to the captives) ἄφεσιν (deliverance), Καὶ (and) τυφλοῖς (to the blind) ἀνάβλεψιν (recovery of sight), Ἀποστεῖλαι (to send forth) τεθραυσμένους (the oppressed) ἐν (in) ἀφέσει (deliverance), ¹⁹ Κηρῦξαι (to proclaim) ἐνιαυτὸν (the year) Κυρίου (of the Lord’s) δεκτόν (favor).” ²⁰ Καὶ (And) πτύξας (having rolled up) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), ἀποδοὺς (having delivered it) τῷ (to the) ὑπηρέτῃ (attendant), ἐκάθισεν (He sat down), καὶ (and) πάντων (of all) οἱ (the) ὀφθαλμοὶ (eyes) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) συναγωγῇ (synagogue) ἦσαν (were) ἀτενίζοντες (fixed upon) αὐτῷ (Him). ²¹ ἤρξατο (He began) δὲ (then) λέγειν (to say) πρὸς (to) αὐτοὺς (them) ὅτι (-), “Σήμερον (Today) πεπλήρωται (is fulfilled) ἡ (the) γραφὴ (Scripture) αὕτη (this), ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ὠσὶν (hearing) ὑμῶν (of you).”

¹ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ἐν (afterward) τῷ (-) καθεξῆς (soon), καὶ (that) αὐτὸς (He) διώδευεν (was traveling) κατὰ (throughout) πόλιν (city) καὶ (and) κώμην (village), κηρύσσων (preaching) καὶ (and) εὐαγγελιζόμενος (proclaiming the good news) τὴν (of the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). καὶ (And) οἱ (the) δώδεκα (Twelve) σὺν (were with) αὐτῷ (Him),

¹⁰ ἐὰν (If) τὰς (the) ἐντολάς (commandments) μου (of Me) τηρήσητε (you keep), μενεῖτε (you will abide) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀγάπῃ (love) μου (of Me), καθὼς (as) ἐγὼ (I), «τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου» (of Me) «τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς» (commandments) τετήρηκα (have kept), καὶ (and) μένω (I abide) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀγάπῃ (love).

¹⁴ Ὑμεῖς (You) φίλοι (friends) μού (of Me) ἐστε (are) ἐὰν (if) ποιῆτε (you do) ἃ* (what) ἐγὼ (I) ἐντέλλομαι (command) ὑμῖν (you).

² ἄχρι (until) ἧς (the) ἡμέρας (day), ἐντειλάμενος (having given orders) τοῖς (to the) ἀποστόλοις (apostles) διὰ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) οὓς (whom) ἐξελέξατο (He had chosen), ἀνελήμφθη (He was taken up),

³⁸ Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) τὸν (-) ἀπὸ (from) Ναζαρέθ (Nazareth), ὡς (how) ἔχρισεν (anointed) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (with Holy) καὶ (and) δυνάμει (with power), ὃς (who) διῆλθεν (went about) εὐεργετῶν (doing good) καὶ (and) ἰώμενος (healing) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) καταδυναστευομένους (being oppressed) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) διαβόλου (devil), ὅτι (because) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἦν (was) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him).

⁴² καὶ (And) παρήγγειλεν (He instructed) ἡμῖν (us) κηρύξαι (to proclaim) τῷ (to the) λαῷ (people) καὶ (and) διαμαρτύρασθαι (to testify fully) ὅτι (that) οὗτός (He) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the One) ὡρισμένος (having been appointed) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) Κριτὴς (as judge) ζώντων (of living) καὶ (and) νεκρῶν (dead).

² οἴδατε (You know) γὰρ (for) τίνας (what) παραγγελίας (instructions) ἐδώκαμεν (we gave) ὑμῖν (you), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).

⁶ Παραγγέλλομεν (We command) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ἐν (in) ὀνόματι (the name) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ‹ἡμῶν› (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), στέλλεσθαι (are to withdraw) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀπὸ (from) παντὸς (every) ἀδελφοῦ (brother) ἀτάκτως (idly) περιπατοῦντος (walking) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) παράδοσιν (tradition) ἣν (that) παρελάβοσαν* (you received) παρ’ (from) ἡμῶν (us).

¹⁰ καὶ (Even) γὰρ (for) ὅτε (when) ἦμεν (we were) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you), τοῦτο (this) παρηγγέλλομεν (we were commanding) ὑμῖν (you), ὅτι (that) “Εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐ (not) θέλει (is willing) ἐργάζεσθαι (to work), μηδὲ (neither) ἐσθιέτω (let him eat).”
