¹² οὗ (whose) τὸ (-) πτύον (winnowing fork is) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) διακαθαριεῖ (He will clear) τὴν (the) ἅλωνα (threshing floor) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) συνάξει (will gather) τὸν (the) σῖτον (wheat) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἀποθήκην (barn); τὸ (the) δὲ (but) ἄχυρον (chaff) κατακαύσει (He will burn up) πυρὶ (with fire) ἀσβέστῳ (unquenchable).”

¹¹ λέγω (I say) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) πολλοὶ (many) ἀπὸ (from) ἀνατολῶν (east) καὶ (and) δυσμῶν (west) ἥξουσιν (will come), καὶ (and) ἀνακλιθήσονται (will recline) μετὰ (with) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) καὶ (and) Ἰσαὰκ (Isaac) καὶ (and) Ἰακὼβ (Jacob) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens); ¹² οἱ (the) δὲ (however) υἱοὶ (sons) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) ἐκβληθήσονται (will be cast out), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) σκότος (darkness) τὸ (the) ἐξώτερον (outer), ἐκεῖ (there) ἔσται (will be) ὁ (the) κλαυθμὸς (weeping) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) βρυγμὸς (gnashing) τῶν (of the) ὀδόντων (teeth).”

⁴³ Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ἀρθήσεται (will be taken away) ἀφ’ (from) ὑμῶν (you) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) δοθήσεται (it will be given) ἔθνει (to a people) ποιοῦντι (producing) τοὺς (the) καρποὺς (fruits) αὐτῆς (of it).

⁶ οἱ (-) δὲ (And) λοιποὶ (the rest), κρατήσαντες (having laid hold of) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants) αὐτοῦ (of him), ὕβρισαν (mistreated) καὶ (and) ἀπέκτειναν (killed them). ⁷ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) βασιλεὺς (the king) ὠργίσθη (was angry), καὶ (and) πέμψας (having sent) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἀπώλεσεν (he destroyed) τοὺς (the) φονεῖς (murderers) ἐκείνους (those), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνέπρησεν (he burned).

²¹ ἔσται (There will be) γὰρ (for) τότε (then) θλῖψις (tribulation) μεγάλη (great), οἵα (such as) οὐ (not) γέγονεν (has been) ἀπ’ (from the) ἀρχῆς (beginning) κόσμου (of the world) ἕως (until) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now), οὐδ’ (no) οὐ (never) μὴ (not) γένηται (shall be). ²² καὶ (And) εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ἐκολοβώθησαν (had been shortened) αἱ (the) ἡμέραι (days) ἐκεῖναι (those), οὐκ (not) ἂν (-) ἐσώθη (there would have been saved) πᾶσα (any) σάρξ (flesh); διὰ (because of) δὲ (however) τοὺς (the) ἐκλεκτοὺς (elect), κολοβωθήσονται (will be shortened) αἱ (the) ἡμέραι (days) ἐκεῖναι (those).

²⁸ Ἐκεῖ (There) ἔσται (will be) ὁ (the) κλαυθμὸς (weeping) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) βρυγμὸς (gnashing) τῶν (of the) ὀδόντων (teeth) ὅταν (when) ὄψησθε (you see) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham), καὶ (and) Ἰσαὰκ (Isaac), καὶ (and) Ἰακὼβ (Jacob), καὶ (and) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); ὑμᾶς (you) δὲ (however) ἐκβαλλομένους (are being cast) ἔξω (out). ²⁹ καὶ (And) ἥξουσιν (they will come) ἀπὸ (from) ἀνατολῶν (east) καὶ (and) δυσμῶν (west), καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) βορρᾶ (north) καὶ (and) νότου (south), καὶ (and) ἀνακλιθήσονται (will recline) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

²³ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) ὁ (the) κύριος (master) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) δοῦλον (servant), ‘Ἔξελθε (Go out) εἰς (into) τὰς (the) ὁδοὺς (highways) καὶ (and) φραγμοὺς (hedges) καὶ (and) ἀνάγκασον (compel them) εἰσελθεῖν (to come in), ἵνα (so that) γεμισθῇ (may be filled) μου (of me) ὁ (the) οἶκος (house). ²⁴ λέγω (I say) γὰρ (for) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐδεὶς (not one) τῶν (the) ἀνδρῶν (men) ἐκείνων (of those) τῶν (-) κεκλημένων (having been invited) γεύσεταί (will taste) μου (of me) τοῦ (the) δείπνου (supper).’”

³² μνημονεύετε (Remember) τῆς (the) γυναικὸς (wife) Λώτ (of Lot)! ³³ ὃς (Whoever) ἐὰν (if) ζητήσῃ (may seek) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτοῦ (of him) περιποιήσασθαι (to save), ἀπολέσει (will lose) αὐτήν (it); ὃς (whoever) δ’* (also) ἂν (-) ἀπολέσῃ* (will lose it), ζωογονήσει (will preserve) αὐτήν (it). ³⁴ λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ταύτῃ (in that) τῇ (-) νυκτὶ (night) ἔσονται (there will be) δύο (two) ἐπὶ (upon) κλίνης (bed) μιᾶς (one): ὁ (The) εἷς (one) παραλημφθήσεται (will be taken), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἕτερος (other) ἀφεθήσεται (will be left). ³⁵ ἔσονται (There will be) δύο (two women) ἀλήθουσαι (grinding) ἐπὶ (at) τὸ (the) αὐτό (same place): ἡ (The) μία (one) παραλημφθήσεται (will be taken), ἡ (-) δὲ (and) ἑτέρα (the other) ἀφεθήσεται (will be left).” ^{36 37} Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθέντες (answering), λέγουσιν (they say) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ποῦ (Where), Κύριε (Lord)?” Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὅπου (Where) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body is), ἐκεῖ (there) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) ἀετοὶ (vultures) ἐπισυναχθήσονται (will be gathered together).”

⁴¹ Καὶ (And) ὡς (as) ἤγγισεν (He drew near), ἰδὼν (having seen) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city), ἔκλαυσεν (He wept) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτήν (it), ⁴² λέγων (saying) ὅτι (-), “Εἰ (If) ἔγνως (you had known) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) ταύτῃ (this), καὶ (even) σὺ (you), τὰ (the things) πρὸς (for) εἰρήνην (peace)! νῦν (Now) δὲ (however) ἐκρύβη (they are hidden) ἀπὸ (from) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) σου (of you). ⁴³ ὅτι (For) ἥξουσιν (will come) ἡμέραι (days) ἐπὶ (upon) σὲ (you) καὶ (that) παρεμβαλοῦσιν (will cast around) οἱ (the) ἐχθροί (enemies) σου (of you) χάρακά (a barricade) σοι (you); καὶ (and) περικυκλώσουσίν (they will surround) σε (you) καὶ (and) συνέξουσίν (will hem in) σε (you) πάντοθεν (on every side), ⁴⁴ καὶ (and) ἐδαφιοῦσίν (will level to the ground) σε (you) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) σου (of you) ἐν (within) σοί (you), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀφήσουσιν (will leave) λίθον (a stone) ἐπὶ (upon) λίθον (a stone) ἐν (within) σοί (you), ἀνθ’ (in place of) ὧν (which) οὐκ (not) ἔγνως (you knew) τὸν (the) καιρὸν (season) τῆς (the) ἐπισκοπῆς (of visitation) σου (of you).”

²² ὅτι (for) ἡμέραι (the days) ἐκδικήσεως (of avenging) αὗταί (these) εἰσιν (are), τοῦ (-) πλησθῆναι (to fulfill) πάντα (all things) τὰ (-) γεγραμμένα (having been written). ²³ Οὐαὶ (But woe) ταῖς (to those) ἐν (in) γαστρὶ (womb) ἐχούσαις (having), καὶ (and) ταῖς (to the ones) θηλαζούσαις (nursing) ἐν (in) ἐκείναις (those) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days); ἔσται (there will be) γὰρ (for) ἀνάγκη (distress) μεγάλη (great) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (land) καὶ (and) ὀργὴ (wrath) τῷ (to the) λαῷ (people) τούτῳ (this). ²⁴ καὶ (And) πεσοῦνται (they will fall) στόματι (by the edge) μαχαίρης (of the sword), καὶ (and) αἰχμαλωτισθήσονται (will be led captive) εἰς (into) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); πάντα (all) καὶ (and) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) ἔσται (will be) πατουμένη (trodden down) ὑπὸ (by) ἐθνῶν (the Gentiles), ἄχρι (until) οὗ (that) πληρωθῶσιν (are fulfilled) καιροὶ (the times) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles).

⁴⁶ Παρρησιασάμενοί (Having spoken boldly) τε (also), ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) Βαρνάβας (Barnabas) εἶπαν (said), “Ὑμῖν (To you) ἦν (it was) ἀναγκαῖον (necessary) πρῶτον (first) λαληθῆναι (to be spoken) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); ἐπειδὴ (but since) ἀπωθεῖσθε (you thrust away) αὐτὸν (it) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀξίους (worthy) κρίνετε (you judge) ἑαυτοὺς (yourselves) τῆς (-) αἰωνίου (of eternal) ζωῆς (life), ἰδοὺ (behold), στρεφόμεθα (we are turning) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles). ⁴⁷ οὕτως (Thus) γὰρ (for) ἐντέταλται (has commanded) ἡμῖν (us) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord): ‘Τέθεικά (I have set) σε (you) εἰς (for) φῶς (a light) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles), τοῦ (-) εἶναί (to be) σε (you) εἰς (for) σωτηρίαν (salvation) ἕως (to) ἐσχάτου (the uttermost part) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).’” ⁴⁸ Ἀκούοντα (Hearing it) δὲ (then), τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) ἔχαιρον (were rejoicing) καὶ (and) ἐδόξαζον (glorifying) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), καὶ (and) ἐπίστευσαν (believed) ὅσοι (as many as) ἦσαν (were) τεταγμένοι (appointed) εἰς (to) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).

⁷ Πολλῆς (Of much) δὲ (now) ζητήσεως (discussion) γενομένης (having taken place), ἀναστὰς (having risen up), Πέτρος (Peter) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Ἄνδρες (Men), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ὑμεῖς (you) ἐπίστασθε (know) ὅτι (that) ἀφ’ (from) ἡμερῶν (days) ἀρχαίων (early), ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) ἐξελέξατο (chose) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) στόματός (mouth) μου (of me) ἀκοῦσαι (to hear) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel), καὶ (and) πιστεῦσαι (to believe).

⁶ ἀντιτασσομένων (Opposing) δὲ (however) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) βλασφημούντων (reviling him), ἐκτιναξάμενος (having shaken out) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments), εἶπεν (he said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Τὸ (The) αἷμα (blood) ὑμῶν (of You) ἐπὶ (be upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) ὑμῶν (of you); καθαρὸς (clean) ἐγώ (I am). ἀπὸ (From) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now on), εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) πορεύσομαι (I will go).”

⁸ ἐγένετο (It came to pass) δὲ (then), τὸν (the) πατέρα (father) τοῦ (-) Ποπλίου (of Publius), πυρετοῖς (fevers) καὶ (and) δυσεντερίῳ (dysentery) συνεχόμενον (oppressed with), κατακεῖσθαι (was lying), πρὸς (toward) ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul), εἰσελθὼν (having entered) καὶ (and) προσευξάμενος (having prayed), ἐπιθεὶς (having laid) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) αὐτῷ (on him), ἰάσατο (healed) αὐτόν (him).

²⁸ Γνωστὸν (Known) οὖν (therefore) ἔστω (be it) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (Gentiles) ἀπεστάλη (has been sent) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (-) σωτήριον (salvation) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); αὐτοὶ (they) καὶ (then) ἀκούσονται (will listen)!”

⁹ τὰ (-) δὲ (and for) ἔθνη (the Gentiles), ὑπὲρ (for) ἐλέους (mercy), δοξάσαι (to glorify) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) ἐξομολογήσομαί (I will praise) σοι (You) ἐν (among) ἔθνεσιν (the Gentiles), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) ὀνόματί (name) σου (of You) ψαλῶ (will I sing).” ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) πάλιν (again) λέγει (it says): “Εὐφράνθητε (Rejoice you) ἔθνη (Gentiles), μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) λαοῦ (people) αὐτοῦ (of Him).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάλιν (again): “Αἰνεῖτε (Praise) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles), τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord); καὶ (and) ἐπαινεσάτωσαν (praise) αὐτὸν (Him), πάντες (all) οἱ (the) λαοί (peoples).” ¹² Καὶ (And) πάλιν (again), Ἠσαΐας (Isaiah) λέγει (says): “Ἔσται (There will be) ἡ (the) ῥίζα (root) τοῦ (-) Ἰεσσαί (of Jesse), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) ἀνιστάμενος (arising) ἄρχειν (to rule over) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles); ἐπ’ (in) αὐτῷ (Him) ἔθνη (the Gentiles) ἐλπιοῦσιν (will hope).” ¹³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεὸς (the God) τῆς (-) ἐλπίδος (of hope) πληρώσαι (may fill) ὑμᾶς (you) πάσης (with all) χαρᾶς (joy) καὶ (and) εἰρήνης (peace), ἐν (in) τῷ (-) πιστεύειν (believing); εἰς (for) τὸ (-) περισσεύειν (to abound) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) ἐλπίδι (hope) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (the power) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy). ¹⁴ Πέπεισμαι (I am persuaded) δέ (now), ἀδελφοί (brothers) μου (of me), καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (myself) ἐγὼ (I) περὶ (concerning) ὑμῶν (you), ὅτι (that) καὶ (also) αὐτοὶ (you yourselves) μεστοί (full) ἐστε (are) ἀγαθωσύνης (of goodness), πεπληρωμένοι (being filled) πάσης (with all) τῆς (-) γνώσεως (knowledge), δυνάμενοι (being able) καὶ (also) ἀλλήλους (one another) νουθετεῖν (to admonish). ¹⁵ τολμηρότερον* (More boldly) δὲ (however) ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀπὸ (in) μέρους (part), ὡς (as) ἐπαναμιμνήσκων (reminding) ὑμᾶς (you), διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τὴν (-) δοθεῖσάν (having been given) μοι (to me) ὑπὸ* (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ¹⁶ εἰς (for) τὸ (-) εἶναί (to be) με (me) λειτουργὸν (a minister) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles), ἱερουργοῦντα (administering the sacred service) τὸ (of the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) γένηται (might become) ἡ (the) προσφορὰ (offering) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) εὐπρόσδεκτος (acceptable), ἡγιασμένη (having been sanctified) ἐν (in the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy). ¹⁷ Ἔχω (I have) οὖν (therefore) τὴν (the) καύχησιν (boasting) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), τὰ (in the things) πρὸς (pertaining to) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God). ¹⁸ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) τολμήσω (will I dare) τι (anything) λαλεῖν (to speak of), ὧν (what) οὐ (except) κατειργάσατο (has accomplished) Χριστὸς (Christ) δι’ (through) ἐμοῦ (me), εἰς (unto the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles), λόγῳ (by word) καὶ (and) ἔργῳ (deed),

¹⁶ κωλυόντων (hindering) ἡμᾶς (us) τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (Gentiles) λαλῆσαι (to speak), ἵνα (that) σωθῶσιν (they might be saved), εἰς (so as) τὸ (-) ἀναπληρῶσαι (to fill up) αὐτῶν (their) τὰς (-) ἁμαρτίας (sins) πάντοτε (always). ἔφθασεν (Has come) δὲ (now) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτοὺς (them) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) εἰς (to the) τέλος (utmost).

³ πῶς (how) ἡμεῖς (we) ἐκφευξόμεθα (will escape) τηλικαύτης (such a great) ἀμελήσαντες (having neglected) σωτηρίας (a salvation), ἥτις (which) ἀρχὴν (a commencement) λαβοῦσα (having received), λαλεῖσθαι (declared) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord), ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (those) ἀκουσάντων (having heard), εἰς (to) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐβεβαιώθη (it was confirmed),
